Leafs to make McCabe Last offer.

The Leafs will make one last offer to Brian McCabe worth 5.5 million per season (4 years)

If McCabe does reject this offer, I am told he will be traded by the deadline.

More information on this can be found on hockeynations.com

He then goes on to say:

Sources from the Leafs front office also tell me that the board has told JFJ that the playoffs are a must, leaving JFJ in a really tough position. JFJ has been looking to get younger.

Not too sure how good the source is, but it sounds like it could be true. This guy nailed both the Rose trade and the Francis trade in the NBA. If McCabe does not sign with the Leafs it stands to reason he would be traded instead of risking losing him in the summer for nothing.

definety, especially with the career year he’s having. we dont need another huge contract like kaberle’s. shit, if they say the playoffs is a must JFJ will pick up more old guys and we’ll be screwed next season

  2. PaulK123 says:

I really don’t want McCabe to reject this offer.

I like the guy and Kaberle and McCabe are turning

into real NHL calibur d-men. I want McCabe to re-

sign. If we trade McCabe please do it for a d-man,

    not a forward!

Please don’t ever post something this stupid ever again.

  5. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

nice job, ur the first guy i’ve seen to post some realistic trades.

  6. lukeleim says:

tell what’s stupid about that… the trades are realistic and i sure would feel more confident with this team than i do now

  7. 92-93 says:

wow, if what this guy is saying is true – it should really give leaf fans an idea of just how constricted JFJ is.

he is feeling pressure from all sides and much of the pressure and conditions being placed on him are conflicting. stuff spot this guy is in and i do have sympathy for him.

as for mcCabe being traded – it won’t be the worst thing that has ever happened, especially if the return is good and you know it will be. i would actually be much more upset if the leafs traded Kaberle, or harrison, or Kronvall, etc. then if they trade McCabe.

i like McCabe but he is not worth 5.5 over four years – i don’t care what the market is.

  8. 92-93 says:

    are you kidding me?!

wow. every trade – except the Leopold one – which I first proposed here on HTR back in November, is completely insane.

trading Kronvall is a bad idea in terms of a leaf team that wants to rebuild especially on D. and there is no way Detroit will let go of Zetterberg for an aging sundin and Kronvall.

the worst trade proposed is the Ed Belfour one. this is – THE MOST UNREALISTIC trade i have ever seen. Edmonton is going to give up Cogliano and Syvret for this group in return??!! Absolutely – NO WAY!

The Aki Berg trade might happen – but not for a pick higher than the 6th round. I can see eithe Berg or Klee going to SJ for Toskala considering that the Sharks are looking for D-depth. but of course, the leafs would have to add in someone else to get toskala.

the same thing with Khavanov – no way anyone is trading for this guy for anything more than a 6th round pick.

for all the young guys coming the Leafs way with these trades, they are losing young guys too. and is it a coincidence that in most of the trades – there are young, unproven guys going to the other teams and better, proven, young guys coming to the leafs. what a coincidence! not going to happen.

  9. 93213 says:

Yeah I’d feel more conferatable with that team too, because you put together a decent team.

But this isn’t EA Sports. Almost all of the trades are unrealistic.

Plus why do you want to give up the rookies? For the first time ever the Leafs have prospects going ahead.

  10. lukeleim says:

every single trade was a trade rumor at one point or another with just a little twist… we’re giving up young talent for more young talent
