Nashville Not Done Shopping

According to the Tennessean.com scouts from St. Louis, Detroit, Pittsburgh and the Islanders were on hand to watch their latest game.

It is well known that the Blues have some high profile assets that they are looking to trade before the deadline. Nashville appear poised to do what ever it can this season to make a run at the cup may not be done shopping for veteran players to add to their roster on a rental basis in much the same way that the Hurricanes stockpiled their team last season.

Who could the Pens possibly want?

  2. StevieY9802 says:

Where does it say Nashville is shopping for anything else? All I read is this: "Two scouts from Detroit watched the game, as well as one each from Edmonton, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders." Which Detroit is a given everyone knows that. But it says nothing about Nashville adding anyone else. And they shouldn't. They have had too good a year to mess the chemistry too much.

Nashville aint trading to Detroit…..Simply Wings scouts where there to "scout" the team gien the fact there is 5 games left between the 2 teams.

I read the article and what I got out of it is the Pens where scouting the Blues for a trade not the Preds.  As for who the pens have there eyes on, it could be Keith or Bill.  What the Pens would do with them, who knows?  I wouldn't be surprised if there is a defensive player the pens would want, Maybe Jackman?  The Pens are full of surprises and with Orpik and Malone possibly on the block anything could happen.  Personally I think the Pens are only selling prospects and picks though.

  5. guinsfan4life says:

I don't know this fo sho but if I am guessing, the pens are looking at Brewer or another defenseman. They need help at center with faceoffs and a solid defensive defenseman. They do have players to trade, but unless they trade a prospect with a very high ceiling-which probably won't happen-guys like Malone, Orpik, Melichar are going to be the bait as long with Christensen, and perhaps Dominic Moore

  6. PSU_Penguin says:

Trading Christensen would be a mistake, trading Moore would be idiotic.  He's a huge reason for the season we're having, just like he was a big part of the Rangers last year.  He provides, grit, enegry, and solid/smart play.

  7. halgillfan says:

i heard the pens scouts were there because crosby said he wants to play in st. louis and they want to see all of the young players the blues have incase they end up trading him

  8. MogilnyFan1990 says:

why the …. would crosby want to play for the Blues?

  9. intelligentscorpio says:

Pens need a solid defensive defenceman, and Preds and Blues have plenty.

  10. intelligentscorpio says:

Christiansen is off limits and Moore is an integral part of the Pens line up as it constitutes today. So look for Malone, possibly Melichar and not Orpik to be traded alongwith picks and prospects.

  11. intelligentscorpio says:

Guerin, Thachuk, Brewer, Jackman to name a few.

  12. intelligentscorpio says:

    It's a joke, relax

  13. Uncleben says:

i hear they are going for york, calder and/or zhitnik now. Smolinski and vandermeer may also be on their radar. I know the above statement can apply to any playoff team, but i really think the Pred's will pull thorugh with one of these.

  14. kamullia says:

I think he meant from the Predators.

  15. kamullia says:

I think the one thing is not mentioned here is that game the where all the scouts were, was against St. Louis. And certainly St. Louis are sellers and they have the highest profile names still left for grabs in Tkachuk and Guerin.

The scouts might have been there to look at Nashville also, but you can bet they were there to really look at St. Louis mostly.

  16. kamullia says:

Just a correction, they need a solid defensive defenceman that can skate well enough for their scheme (i.e. Hatcher, Klee, and Gill style skaters need not apply).

  17. kamullia says:

Neither Christensen nor Moore are going anywhere unless they get a really big improvement from the trade. Christensen has great hands, can score, and is great creating, and Moore is one of their best faceoff men plus can kill penalties.

The Pens need help in faceoffs, but I am convinced they will just let their centermen get better at it in time, not trade for someone. And if they did trade looking for faceoff help, it would have to be for a winger that is good on faceoffs, because they are already swimming under centermen as is. But in short, I think they will just going along this year while being the worst faceoff team in the NHL (and if they are not, I am sure they are quite close to it).

  18. kamullia says:

If the Pens were to trade Crosby to St. Louis there would be no point in looking at the young players the Blues have.

They’d have to trade them all for Sid.

  19. rc21pa says:

Your nuts for even joking.  The rest of the statement should have said and the Blues will be having open tryouts for the rest of the roster spots that have to be filled due to the Blues trading the whole team.
