And he’s openly keen on playing here. He did also say, “I’m going to let me agent do his job,” as well, for what it’s worth.

Canucks still trying to trade Luongo

The Vancouver Canucks are still trying to trade goalie Roberto Luongo and seem confident they’ll be able to do so in and around the NHL Draft.

Several teams have expressed an interest in Luongo, but the veteran netminder has a say in where he gets dealt to.

Roberto Luongo to Islanders? Bob McKenzie puts it out there

The Isles have young players they may be willing to deal and they sure could use a all-star caliber goalie to re-establish the franchise and give John Tavares someone to get excited about playing with. It’s a club very much on the upswing and GM Garth Snow, having been one himself, knows that Luongo, who for all the media attention this past season in Vancouver, played great, could take them over the top. Naturally a stumbling lock would be Canucks GM Mike Gillis taking on Di Pietro and talking his boss, owner Francesco Aquilini , into buying him out.

Canucks land Roy, now look for someone to play with Kesler

Having landed the centre they’ve needed to get their team to think attack — instead of cowering in fear and hoping to score a goal or two — the Vancouver Canucks now pursue a quality forward they hope will play with Ryan Kesler.

According to assistant GM Laurence Gilman, Roy slots in as a third line centre playing with Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen and Kesler will centre the second line when he returns with Mason Raymond (if he’s still here) and one would presume either Zack Kassian or new winger.

Roy to the Canucks

Canucks have acquired Derek Roy from stars for D Kevin Connauton and a 2nd rd pick.

Did Roberto Luongo refuse earlier deal with Maple Leafs?

Did Roberto Luongo give the thumbs down on a potential trade to the Maple Leafs last summer?

So says Sportsnet’s Doug MacLean, who claims Luongo refused to waive his no-trade at the time in the hopes that a deal was in the works that would have reunited him with the Florida Panthers, the team he broke into the NHL with.

According to MacLean, a tentative off-season deal for Luongo was in place at the time between the Leafs and Canucks.

Do you think a Luongo for Bozak trade would be fair for both teams?

Is Leafs’ Bozak headed to Vancouver for Luongo?

According to Vancouver Canucks assistant general manager Laurence Gilman, the Luongo trade chatter is becoming more than just web scuttlebutt.

“Mike is in discussions with multiple teams … Talks are beyond the tire-kicking stage,” Gilman told the Vancouver media referring to Canucks general manager Mike Gillis.

Various reports from the left coast suggest Leafs centre Tyler Bozak is in the mix. Bozak will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

RUMOURS DU JOUR

The Leafs have been sniffing around the NHL’s goalie market and have held talks with the Canucks regarding Roberto Luongo. While Vancouver has always coveted centre Tyler Bozak to help shore up the middle, it will be interesting to see if this deal can get done. Getting Luongo would help the Leafs stabilize their goaltending for the next six years.
