Preissing looking for a new team and a big raise???

(Article in French) is reporting that it is unlikely that Tom Preissing will return to the Senators for another season. Pressing is set to become unrestricted and is due for a big raise from the 600,000 that he earned last season. speculates that Preissing may be looking to return to the United States, his homeland to sign a multi year contract that would offer him some security. Pressings great play last season and his steadiness on defense should put him in a solid position to be coveted by many NHL teams.

Bye Tom, we won't miss you so much in Ottawa.

This guy is way to soft..

Great puck moving/handling defensemen with good offensive skills but lacks physical play.I hope the sens replace him by signing Sean O`donnell.

  3. BruMagnus says:

This could be the type of player the Penguins would want and can afford, rather than spending megabucks on a Hannan or Timonen type player.

  4. Neely4Life says:

for what the sens paid for him, and what he produced, he had a great year.  I have no probs letting the guy go, but dont trash the guy, he played well, and played within his element.  He deserves a raise the sens just cant afford to give him as a 5th, 6th d Man

  5. Glucker says:

this is a really pressing matter

lame jokes aside, isnt his name preissing?

  6. Aetherial says:

He'll certainly fetch more than triple that on the free-agent market.

i'm not sure if i agree.  he is a right-handed defenseman that the penguins need, but letang is a younger, more affordable right-handed defenseman who i feel is ready for a spot on the penguins defensive rotation, and i feel they bring the same attributes to the team.  all they need on defense is a solid, tough defensive defenseman.  i mean if they can afford him and a defensive defenseman i'll take him over melichar and scuderi, but i don't think he's worth it for the pens if he's going to be asking for some big money.

  8. intelligentscorpio says:

Preissing is a valuable piece of any defensive corps, however, may not fit into the Pittsburgh situation. The Pens need tough, hard nosed D to not squander leads, and to advance in the playoffs. We already have Gonchar, Whitney and now Letang, and do not need anymore offensive minded defensemen.

  9. Sharkattack01 says:

I REALLY hope that the Sharks can sign him, or even make an effort to do so. He's exactly what we need as a power play QB, and I regret even trading him in the first place.

  10. Radio says:

Not really news tho. This has been known since before this summer.

There's no guarantee Letang will be successfull (see Welch and Letang last year). But moreso, the team has zero right-handed shots, having two would be good. But I do agree we need AT LEAST one defensive defenseman in the Hannan (let's pray) or Sutton/Sarich variety.

    not bad!
