Of course you’d have to be either nonis or JFJ to do something this ridiculous, because if you were anyone else, you’d be a little more reasonable. Nonis just felt the pressure to get this done. Which I agree, if your gonna do something don’t half ass it, do it right and go all the way with it. But if I were GM of louie’s new team I would sign him to that first year at a reasonable price and put a good team out there on the ice for him to enjoy playing with. But then again I’m not a GM and there is a reason for that…

Wow this was definitely all about the money. From really wanting to stay in florida and “its not about the money its about the direction of the organization, staying there long term, and winning.” To getting dealt to a team that was NOT a playoff contender and signing a 4yr deal for $6.8 million (which is what? about $1.4 million more then florida’s more than reasonable offer), this new team he is on also has a questionable defense to play behind (which will possibly be WORST then luongo’s old defenders), and thining scoring lines. That sucks, so does he, and Gilies Lupien.

Maybe I’m a bit of a bitter panthers fan, but theres no denying this. I’m just curious to see how Martin Biron’s situation is gonna pan out now. Lets all follow that…

seems to me that cam ward is the best right now, hes got a conn smythe and a stanley cup to prove it, while luongo hasn’t even made the playoffs yet……

  4. LeafsLeafsLeafs says:

yet again no playoff experience, regular season means dick all…..where’s his silverware? ya he has none.

    jack ass

Worse than Floridas defenders???? Compare the top 6 pal, and add in the Canucks had several major injuries on the back end, plus using the back up goalie in Auld. Florida doesn’t compare, even after we lose Jovo, as he’s horrible in his own end anyway. (Like Mcabe)

Plus the Nuck’s were a contender, unlike Florida, until the end of the year, and played in the toughest diff. A totally different box of apples in my opinion, and that is all it is.

  6. BigCanuck says:

No different than most other guys “doing what’s right for their family”. Would you move across the country for double the pay????

  7. BigCanuck says:

What would you have said about Cam Ward, Khabibulin, and even Kiprusoff, in the moments before they tore the league up in the playoffs??

Every year some goalie has to win in the playoffs, why not him? Florida never had the money to put people in front of him. This year could have been it, but bad luck hit them. He still played well, did he not?

  8. BigCanuck says:

Yeah, and up until Gerber got yanked, HE HAD NO EXPERIENCE. You are on both sides of the equation. You must just be a tad bitter cause you have Raycroft. (Minimal experience, like Ward, eh??)

  9. Thehun says:

ummmm the Canucks are playoff contenders. They missed the playoffs last year by a couple of points. How did the Panthers do in the past 5 years?

  10. LeafsLeafsLeafs says:

Not really man…………Luongo is over paid I am not bitter,……….He makes more than Brodeur and Brodeur has 3 cup rings ffs…….use your head dip shit.

    “Minimal experience, like Ward, eh??”

That minimal experience has just shot through the roof, I dunno if you noticed he won a stanley cup and conn smythe, did you? he has more playoff experience and hardware than luongo does and hes been in the league 1 season.

    Right now:

    Ward > Luongo

  11. LeafsLeafsLeafs says:

kiprusoff and ward arent making 7 mil a season with no playoff history what so ever, now are they? same goes for khabibulin who has won a cup.

I’m not sure what your arguement has to do with the size of Luongo’s pay stub, I am arguing how much he is being paid, not how good he is. In this league you get paid for results, not non playoff experience and failure, which is what luongo has been so far. And by all acounts around the league from various professionals, Luongo did NOT have a good year at all. So I have no clue where you are getting your info.

    Hahaha! By far the best!?!

This year Luongo was 28th in GAA

    9th in S%

    7th in wins

    1st in losses

Doesn’t seem to me to be by far the best goaltender in the league.

  13. prehpreh says:

hahaha we’ll see what happens next year when ward comes back down to earth….. just like…… cough cough Giguere cough cough Theodore.

Would I sign Brodeur to a 4 year 27 million dollar deal right now? hell no. Even though he has 3 rings and is arguably the best clutch goalie in the game, hes getting old and is in the twilight of his career. Would i give luongo a 4 year 27 million dollar deal? hell yes, even though he has no playoff experience. This guy is in the prime of his career and has many years left to be a top tendy in the league.

thats because you are a canuck fan and you are looking at the situation with bias.
