Rebuliding the Leafs

According to TFP Boston is looking to add some dept to there team since losing some key players due to injuries. They are will tp part with kessel Axelson, or draft pickpropects.

Boston is look for a top 4 defenseman and a top 2 center

Toronto needs to dump some of that rediculous salary and rebuild there team

To Boston
Sundin
Kubina

To Toronto
Kessel
rask or lucic or 1st round pick

that's a lot of salary for the Boston Bruins to take on.

if boston makes that trade their idiots. As for as rebuilding goes what the leafs can do is trade sundin to detroit for hudler and a pick . Then with that move on start dumping some of the veterans on their team to acquire picks and prospects because the next two years the draft is very strong and the leafs farm team isnt strong so this would be a good year for them to start the rebuilding process.

the bruins will not give up lucic or rask!!the first round pick and kessel may be atainable …………….but i think kessel still might be untouchable for anyone to acquire!i think what you might see is deal something like this

                                to toronto:

                                 1st r.d pick in 08 draft

                                 zack hamill(07 first r.d pick)
matt lashoff (bruins top defenceman prospect)

                                   to boston:

                                   mats sundin
                                    ian white

this is a deal that boston and toronto could realistically do and it makes sense for both teams!however i wonder about bostons cap space!this helps toronto greatly by shedding salary, creating cap space and gives them some good prospects for there rebuilding !!!

Rask..hahaha funny, you guys aren’t getting him back

    your dumb

  7. Hockey75 says:

Ummmmmm… ya i hate people who keep saying that Toronto should or is going trade Sundin because for one, he wants to stay in Toronto until he retires and two, he has a NTC!

  8. TwoCents says:

I agree with Luke. Too much salary.
and don't you think we/they could get a little more for #13

I'm not sure if you're right about Boston wanting to trade Kessel.  They seem pretty happy with him, although he isn't doing well.  I believe Boston will hold onto him, they can't afford to lose his potentially.  If the Leafs are going to make a trade, I do agree with you that they should dump their over-paid players.  But I think they will trade for a 2nd line defencemen or a pure goal scorer.  The Leafs don't need to trade for way in the future.  They have lots of good young prospects in the system and if they hold on to their draft picks, they should be fine.  I think possible Leafs trades could be:

    To Los Angeles
    Bryan McCabe
    Andrew Raycroft

    To Toronto
    Dustin Brown
    Thomas Hickey

    or

    To Anaheim
    Darcy Tucker
    Mats Sundin

    To Toronto
    Corey Perry
    Francois Beauchemin

  10. jpmac says:

McCabe TUcker and Raycroft are going NOWHERE!  They suck. why would LA trade two young players for two overpaied, over rated players.  NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

  11. adamsilvs says:

The Kings would do it because they need an experienced leader.  They have a bright future and trading away a couple of stars wouldn't deplete their team.  Sundin is the type of player the Kings are looking for in a leader.

  12. jpmac says:

Firstly, you never mentioned Sundin going to the Kings, only McCabe and Raycroft.  McCabe would probably not wave his NTC to go to a rebuilding team.  They could probably sign a better player at the same price as a FA.

If for some strange reason, Lombardi makes this trade, There would most definetley send salary back the other way, no way they will want to pick up 8 or so million dollars of salary.

This trade still makes zero sense, trade two promising young players for two mediocore over priced, under achieving players.  Other GMs are much smarter than Ferguson.

And why would LA want Raycroft? They already have 3 to 4 mediocre players, keep dreaming.
