Slowly coming together….

The Leafs of late have showed an old fimiliar face that Leaf fans remember…. the face of determination.
In the beginning of the season, if the Leafs were down even one goal, the game was over. The Buds had so much trouble coming back. Not like the old Leafs… the good old days when the leafs would fight their way back to win a game.
It’s nice to see that grit and determination again.

Its also nice to see this team coming back together again.
Wellwood is back and adding a creative element that the Leafs don’t have anywhere else in their roster. Not sense Alex Mogilny. Lets face it the majority of this team is built on size and hard hitters not speed and creativity. This guys stick handling eludes defensemen but sometimes it would be nice if he shot a little more instead of looking for the picture perfect pass… but hey he’s doing a great job so far so keep it up.

Tucker is back. His return was like a defibulator shocking this team and restoring the Heart that was quite possibly going into cardiac arrest. Tucker may be called a “bum” around the league but Leaf fans don’t give a damn. Watching his first game back really made me realize how much this city loves Tucks! The kind of love that most cities don’t even show their players even when you have a team built of superstars.
The crowd waited for his first shift before releasing rumble of cheers and applause. Soon after, a short skit on the big screen showing Darcy’s highlights. Darcy tried to focus on the game but kept sneeking a peak.
Tucker signing a contract extension with the hometown discount didn’t hurt either.

On the horizon, Peca and Kaberle… two important defensive pieces to this team that will improve the PK and the PP but will it be too late?

It’s amazing how the special teams is this team’s weakness this year. The PK is terrible…its almost a gauranteed goal against the Leafs. The Power Play is just as bad. They can’t score and they lose the puck creating short handed opportunities.
The 5 on 5 game is good though. They have dominated many games this year and have gone toe to toe with the best lines in the league. Too bad they don’t win all the games they dominate.

Sundin, again, is lifting this team! He is a true Superstar and soon to be the highest scoring Leaf ever!

Raycroft is not to far away from breaking a franchise record either but will the fans just look at that as a stat? When will the fans warm up to this guy? I know when. When the Leafs make the playoffs…. simple as that. If they don’t make it, they will put him to blame…. someone will be hung.. it’ll be Rayzor. I personally think he’s playing a more patient game… much improved.

Props to Kubina!! This guy has been playing like a monster! Broken finger and all, this guy is diving, blocking shots and making pretty passes!! Hmmmm…. worth 5 MIL though?

Like Canadiens fans, Canes fans, Islanders fans, Rangers Fans, I just want my team to make the playoffs. All these teams fairly even so its making this playoff race even more exciting.
Last night was a big night for Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Carolina. The weather was nice here in Toronto and fans were walking the streets with their jerseys on….. playoffs is in the air….. Hockey is great!!

May the best teams make it!
