Steve Downie Should Be Thrown Out!
Even before his 1rst NHL game this season started Steve Downie was suspended 25 games for his torpedo like hit on Dean McAmmond, But he continues to show a lack of respect towards players in the NHL…
No offence to Steve Downie but as we all hear on TV or we read it, There must be respect towards players in the NHL. After watching the Philly and Leaf game I was completely shocked when Downie sucker punched a guy like Jason Blake. I’m pretty sure if your reading this you saw the game and know which punch I’m talking about….I can understand if that is done to a player like Belak or Gill but to a guy like Blake is completely unacceptable. Jason Blake (and I quote from Mr. Cherry!) wouldn’t hurt a fly and is one of the most respectable guys in the game….not to mention he is battling leukemia.
Point being,
Steve Downie is already Top 3 on longest suspensions and he is only 20 years old. At the junior level Steve Downie was suspended for hitting a player with his stick in baseball like fashion…If this kid doesn’t change his attitude towards other players the NHL might have a Chris Simon Jr. on there hands or worse!
I understand he is trying to earn a roster spot with Philly and I and probably other fans respect that but there is no need for unnecessary blows to the head and sucker punches. Agitating is one thing, hurting someone is something else…

Another note….56 shots from the Leafs and they still loose & Raycroft actually played decent….I think its just destiny for them to have a bad season this year?
