The one problem with the Canucks?
Being a diehard Nucks fan, I watch every game I can so I know how the team is shaping up. This team has really developed over the season, and it seems as though Vigneault can do nothing wrong. My first problem I’ve had with him is putting Santala on a line with the Sedins. I know they want to get their money out of him, but for God’s sake let him get back to game form on a different line.
This team has solved it’s goaltending problems finally by picking up Luongo. Vigneault has trained his team to play around Luongo, and with that amazing of a keeper between the pipes the team plays with confidence, ie the great PK.
This brings me to the one kink the Canucks MUST iron out before the post season(obviously IF they make it, though it’s almost safe to say they will).
The canucks must cut down on taking stupid penalties. I know that some of the calls lately have been a bit weak, but the Canucks have to work on not even letting refs see anything to call. I thought the Dallas game was the weakest reffed game I’ve seen this year. Eeverytime a Dallas player went down the arm came up, but everytime a Canuck went down the refs turned their heads. Sure some of the calls had some merit and my opinion is probably slightly biased, but I ref too so I TRY to see it from both sides. Most people will hopefully see my point, as Dallas took the first penalty, and only penalty they got, and then the canucks get called 7 straight.
With a PK as red hot as the Canucks is, you feel a tad safer when you do get called, but we have got to stop giving the refs opportunities to call us for these calls. If the Canucks don’t eliminate this part of their game it will be incredibly difficult to advance in the post season. If they can cut down on these, I think the Canucks may surprise many people.
