Tucker should go

Although the Leafs are playing some good hockey right now, they need to think about their future.

Darcy Tucker is having a career sason this year (when he is healthy) but he will become a free agent at the end of the season and will more than likely ask for a big raise which the Leafs can’t really afford. So JFJ needs to deal Tucker before the trade deadline.

Here’s what I’d do

Trade #1:
To Toronto: Nikolai Zherdev
To Columbus: Darcy tucker and 2nd round draft pick

Trade #2:
To Toronto: Daymond Langkow
To Calgary:Darcy Tucker and 2nd round draft pick

Tucker for Lankow straight up is a better deal, don't waste a 2nd round pick. Zhedrev is not being traded. Tucker to Calgary for 1st round pick and young players(Boyd) is a more likely scenario as the flames are going for the cup.

I disagree with this Tucks makes us better he is probably a potential captaincy candidate if Sundin should leave while he is still here. Yes Darcy Tucker is the kind of player that every team wants and needs. But that includes Toronto.

Calgary wont trade Langkow, their looking to get rid of Friesen & Zyuzin

I know we're trying to build for the future (which is already going on, but Leaf fans can't seem to understand that it takes more than 1 year),

1 –  why trade a solid, heart and soul leader who gives 100 % and is a proven play-off performer for a player that is streaky, gives about 75%, 50% of the time, thinks he is worth top dollar in the NHL, and would rather go back to Russia than prove it.

    2. – I know Langkow is having a good year, but the what the hell would this trade accomplish.  We don't need another center, and they are the same age.

I am so sick of hearing people say to blow up this team, just because they hear someone else say it.  If people would look underneath the surface a little bit they would see that our prospects are comparable to most teams.  Off the top of my head, Tlusty, Earl, Pogge, Vorobiev, Stralman, Kulemin will all be impact players in the NHL IMO and a whole bunch of other prospects that may or may not be good.

The only thing the Leafs should do before the deadline is try to move McCabe to the Islanders for Satan and a pick.  They should do this sooner rather than later, before the Islanders solve their problem of not having a #1 d-man.

hahaha "why trade for for a player that is streaky, gives about 75%, 50% of the time, thinks he is worth top dollar in the NHL"

oh wait, and you want MIRO SATAN?????  yea hes not streaky at all, and boy does he give 200% night in and night out

  6. Hoondog2 says:

Good point!  My reasoning for trading for Satan is more to get rid of McCabe's no-movement contract and put that money where it can be better used, and doesn't handcuff us for the next 5 years.

First of all I would rather have Langkow then Tucker, plus Tucker is a rental player, so it doesn't make sense.

  8. BieksaForMVP says:

That columbus one doesn't make sense because if Columbus trades Zherdev they'll want young prospects, because there not even in the playoff race. They'll get alot for him, maybe Lupul?

  9. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

It doesn't make sense, you're right, read the 2nd half of my comment

  10. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Tucker is a heart and soul player, but you have to look at what he brings to the team:

    Forechecking-something the Leafs do well
Hard Work- In no short supply with Maurice as coach
PP goals- will come as long as the Leafs D stays the same

Tucker can bring so much to any team, and his value as of now is inflated. If there is any time to trade him. Its now. Or sign him to a long term deal worth 3 mil or Less

So how about that Inline Hockey league…anyone check out the website…anyone interested….anyone have any questions, lol

    Let me know!!!

  12. BieksaForMVP says:

I know, but your saying that Toronto should take the 2nd rounder out, but i'm just saying they shouldn't

  13. LeafyMcLeaf says:

    This is so *****ing stupid.

  14. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Lakow for Tucker is about even, Both bring lots to a hockey club.

  15. GoalJudge says:

    The Zherdev Trade is rediculous.
Tucker is not only a PRODUCTIVE player now but more valuable for the immediate future.
Zherdev is very cold right now, and is lazy at times as part of his character.
Tucker Straight up for Zherdev right now is a rip-off, nevermind the inclusion of a 2nd round pick.
If columbus was to give up a 2nd round pick with Zherdev, for Tucker then you'd be talking.

This is a rediculous debate anyways because Tucker will go to a contender not a seller-dweller.  Tuckers leadership would be very good influence in Columbus, but it isn't gonna happen.  Not to mention the leafs would like to bring him back, but at a lower price.

The leafs would ideally like to deal him to a playoff contender, and have him do badly.  Then resign him to a smaller contract on account of his poor playoff performance.

  16. evilspike2000 says:

tuckers a good player but this year he is injuried and he is always whining and he cant fight anymore trade him for value like prospects or trade him for a veteran like roberts or stumpel and picks

  17. kwels42 says:

im not saying that they should blow up the team im just saying that tuckers is gunna be very expensive at the end of the year.
and langkow can play wing pretty well

  18. kwels42 says:

Zherdev is a young player who will be eventually at the top of the league. One of the big reasons why he isnt playing well is because he doesnt like it in Columbus, and with him on Sundin's wing they would be pretty good.
Don't get me wrong i love tucker and the way he effects the hockey club but with JFJ as the manager and his history of making rediculous contracts i just don't think it will be best for the future of the franchise. And your right Tucker should go to a contender but what if he plays a huge role in the playoffs for that team, he is more than likely going to be expensive come July 1st and i just dnt think the Leafs could use him as much as they could use someone else with the same amount of salary.

  19. kwels42 says:

    yah thats true
i was just putting up some names, and Zherdev may be on the block.

  20. kwels42 says:

ya i like tucker alot but he is gunna be expensive at the end of the year and i'd rather trade him and get something out of him than lose him to free agency.

  21. kwels42 says:

    ya i'd agree with that

  22. kwels42 says:

    how doesnt that make sense?

  23. kwels42 says:

easy buddy just a suggestion no need to freak out
