Your 2007 (Bias filled!) all-star picks

I love the all-star game, in every sport, I vote as many times as I can, and I get to as many computers as possible to vote more. And what I love most is making bias as hell picks! In 2004, my entire group of East picks were Leafs! Well, one was a future Leaf, ok. I voted for Sundin, Roberts, Nolan, Kaberle, Leetch, and Belfour. Now, I can’t wait till November when the voting starts! I don’t wanna here “Ovechkin, Crosby, Pronger, Lidstrom, Heatley Brodeur” or any of that bull shit! I wanna hear your completely super-bias picks!

Here are mine.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

CENTRE: Mike Peca

NOTES: Well, I vote strategically, I could very well have put Mats Sundin here, but he’s pretty much a sure-fire pick, so I am going to vote for someone who needs the help. Which would lead me to Matt Stajan, but Stajan very likely won’t make an all-star game till he’s won a Selke or two, so next in line from the East is Peca, though I have also considered Joe Nieuwendyk. I went with Peca because the all-star game is always too soft, and they need someone who hits in there.

LEFT WING: Brendan Shanahan

NOTES: Well, this came down to Alex Ovechkin, Gary Roberts, Erik Cole, and Brendan Shanahan. Shanahan got the nod because Erik Cole is young and exciting, giving him a terriffic chance at the all-star game to begin with. Alex Ovechkin is going to get into the game no matter what. Gary Roberts really doesn’t have a shot in hell unless he does after all that nonsense end up back in Toronto, in which case, Sundin and the abundance of Leaf fans may help his case. Until then, Shanahan gets my vote.

RIGHT WING: Darcy Tucker

NOTES: I love this guy, I really do, this year he’s got a chance, he’ll get help from the thousands of crazy Leaf fans who will be voting for him, and I think he’ll make the team. Remember, this guy had the same ammount of points last year as Martin St Louis, in 6 fewer games, and 6 fewer points then Jarome Iginla, in 8 fewer games. I also reccomend Martin St Louis and Todd Bertuzzi for this spot.

DEFENSE: Tomas Kaberle

NOTES: Tomas Kaberle, the one time all-star has been making Bryan McCabe look good for a few years now, and it’s time he gets recognized for it. McCabe sucks, always has, and always will, Kaberle made that combo, will likely score 70 points this year, and gets my all-star vote.

DEFENSE: Ian White

NOTES: Did anyone see this kid last year? DAMN! He scored in all his first 3 NHL games! He was playing great. Carlo Colaiacovo, if he ever comes back, could get this spot, and Brian Leetch, depending on where he signs, has a shot, but for now, Ian White gets my vote. I expect big things from Ian, but sadly, he likely won’t make the all-star team.

GOALTENDER: Andrew Raycroft

NOTES: I didn’t like this guy until I saw his helmet. That’s the coolest thing ever, seriously, it is. I’m going to give him my vote just because his helmet is so damn cool, and every time I see him in the net, I think it’s Curtis Joseph. I might vote Ed Belfour as a big “screw you” to everyone who trashes older players.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

CENTRE: Jeremy Roenick

NOTES: A bias pick, you can’t help but love this guy. I got a nice Roenick Flyers jersey this summer. I love him for his big mouth, and his hard hits. Tkachuck and Roenick seem to be the only guys who ever have the balls to hit in the All-Star game. Maybe making it for Stanley Cup home ice would make it more fun. Back to the point. JR are awesome. I would also consider giving this spot to Eric Lindros.

LEFT WING: Ryan Smyth

NOTES: This guy has NEVER been in an all-star game! He seriously is the most under-rated player in the NHL today! He is Captain Canada, the Oilers leader, and STILL waiting for an All-star game appearance. I encourage everyone to vote for him now, PLEASE! Recognize Ryan Smyth. If you aren’t gonna vote Smyth, at least vote Paul Kariya.

RIGHT WING: Owen Nolan

NOTES: I also believe he’ll be comeback player of the year. Owen Nolan realizes the all-star game is there purely for entertaining fans, and that’s what he did when he owned Domonik Hasek a few years back. He gets my vote, pretty easy.

DEFENSE: Dion Phaneuf

NOTES: He gets my vote because of his pure awesomeness, and the fact that he might take Daniel Alfredsson out in the all-star game! Phaneuf would be a starter for sure in the East, probably along with Wade Redden, but the west has better defense, he’ll have to fight Pronger, Blake, Niedermayer, and Lidstrom for a spot.

DEFENSE: Ed Jovanovski

NOTES: Lets hope he’s not hurt again. Big Jovo fan, he’s an Olympic veteran, and he can hit and score. Jovanovski may have to fight Rob Blake and Adam Foote for my vote this year though. Big fan of both of them too.

GOALTENDER: Curtis Joseph

NOTES: The absolute most under rated goaltender in the NHL today, only got an 84 ranking on NHL 07 (considering that’s the same as Ed Belfour…, 2 higher then Raycroft, and only 2 higher then Tie Domi!) he is going to get my vote on every computer I use. I wanna hear that “CUJO!” chant in Dallas!

That’s my picks, what are yours?

PS: Been a while since I posted here, looks like now you gotta do your own “

” thing.
