Canadiens Sign Subban for 2 years

The Montreal Canadiens have just signed restricted free agent PK Subban to a 2 year contract worth a total of 5.75 million.

Good news if you are a habs fan and didn’t want to see the Subban issue grow any more that it already has.

I agree trademan this should’ve been along time ago, just glad it’s done now and we can now watch him and markov on the pp!

  3. doorman says:

Wow he held out for that? He should have signed right off the hop, IMO

  4. doorman says:

Without an even shortened training camp how do you think he will play?

    • lafleur10 says:

i think he’ll be fine and he’ll come and play like a man with alot to prove i predict he will get 3 points in his first game,he said in his teleconference by phone that he was skating with the mississauga steelheads

That’s a steal but have to think he’ll walk the second he becomes a UFA.

    • HABSSTAR says:

He shouldn’t become a UFA. Montreal can’t keep letting D-men walk for nothing. If he’s not signed to an extension/new contract by the trade deadline on year 2 of this deal then trade him. No more Sourray/Streit/Komo etc… Hopefully MB is on the same page.

not likely he’ll stay a canadien unless he’s traded his heart is there he wants to be there and will be he’ll sign a long term contract next time.

  7. doorman says:

Lol ya his heart is there that’s why he held out for the sake of the team lol

    • lafleur10 says:

that’s why he took this deal his heart is in montreal and he wants to be there he sees how good this team is becoming and how good they are going to be in a couple of years and he wants to be part of it,if his heart wasn’t there he would’ve refused this deal and held for longer or demanded a trade.

Congrats to Marc Bergevin. While Subban was still handsomely compensated, the dollars make sense.

Here’s a good player, but definitely some room for improvement and definitely at least something to prove to the 20 guys in that room.

Bergevin stuck to it. No way he’d pay 5 mil per now. Good on him. Proof to all teams out there, you don’t need to give the Radislav Olesz ridiculous term/money deals to unproven talents. I beleive longevity counts for something. If someone plays well over a long while, rewards will come. paying on hope and potential is wrong and why teams were looking for the fool proof CBA.

Teams/GMs must police themselves. Bergevin should get the GM Award for this alone.

Subban has 2 years to grow into an all-star player. If he does, he’ll get his reward. For now, its a key add to the habs lineup short Pacioretty.

What’s with all the UFA talk already… PK isnt eligible for UFA status for like 4 years… also one of the bigger reasons to not lock up subban in a 5 year term… He’d be a ufa after they type of contract… Lots more than just money to be thought about and negotiated… Most ppl only think a contractt is term and money…. Not the case
