Do you think that PK Subban should be selected for team Canada?

Dave Stubbs: P.J. Stock no expert on P.K. Subban

Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban made a modest return to action on a perfect Super Bowl weekend. He was neither a commanding presence nor a step out of place, but rather one of a half-dozen blue-liners who contributed to a sweep of the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators.

And there’s not a thing wrong with that.

It’s just a shame, if you’re to believe one Hockey Night in Canada panellist, that Subban is disliked by everyone on his team, a young man who is profoundly troubled by the frosty shoulder of his teammates.

SUBBAN MUST ACCEPT NEW RULES BEFORE REJOINING CANADIENS

Before P.K. Subban gets back on the ice with the Montreal Canadiens, he better be ready to buy into a new philosophy.

The defenceman joined his team Wednesday in Ottawa for the first time since signing a two-year $5.75 million contract, but was not in the lineup for their game against the Senators.

He took part in the team’s optional morning skate, and admitted he wasn’t sure when he would play his first game.

It appears Subban has been given a clear message and if he plans on playing an integral role with the team he’d better accept the new set of rules.

“The first thing Marc Bergevin and I did was sit down with (Subban) and explain our philosophy and he understood where we’re coming from,” Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said. “It was a good, honest conversation with P.K. and we just want to make sure everyone is on the same page.”

NO CELEBRATING IN CANADIENS DRESSING ROOM OVER SUBBAN SIGNING

Text Size BROSSARD, Que. — It wasn’t exactly smiles and high fives in the Montreal Canadiens dressing room on Tuesday over the news that P.K. Subban’s contract dispute had finally ended. In fact, the mood was surprisingly chilly on a team that started the lockout-delayed NHL regular season 3-1-0 without the flashy player who was their top defenceman last season.

Canadiens Sign Subban for 2 years

The Montreal Canadiens have just signed restricted free agent PK Subban to a 2 year contract worth a total of 5.75 million.

Good news if you are a habs fan and didn’t want to see the Subban issue grow any more that it already has.

Flyers and Canadiens talking about a Subban trade

RDS.ca is reporting that the Flyers and Canadiens have been taking about a potential deal for Subban. It is noted that the Flyers are eagerly looking to find another top defender aftger they failed to land Weber in the summer.

Why don’t the Maple Leafs make an offer to P.K. Subban?

The question was clearly asked to a member of the Maple Leafs front office and the answer was just as direct.

Why not make a restricted free agent offer on unsigned defenceman P.K. Subban? Why not take a run at the best player not playing for the Montreal Canadiens?

RUMOURS DU JOUR – By Bruce Garrioch ,Ottawa Sun

After Montreal GM Marc Bergevin sat down with agent Don Meehan for a meeting Friday, the future of Habs blueliner P.K. Subban is all the rage. The two sides have gotten nowhere and many wouldn’t be surprised if this ended in a trade demand from the Subban camp in the near future. As reported last week, Subban wants a five-year, $27.5-million deal at $5.5 million per season. Sources say Bergevin used Florida D Dmitry Kulikov (two years, $5 million) and New York D Michael Del Zotto (two years, $5.1 million) as comparisons. That won’t wash with Subban. If the Habs decide to deal Subban, Detroit, Philadelphia and the Rangers will make a push. But sources insist there is a surprise candidate that could have the assets to acquire Subban — the Winnipeg Jets. League sources say GM Kevin Cheveldayoff wants to make a splash to get an impact player. The problem for Bergevin is simple: As mad as the Habs’ camp is at Subban, he’s a thoroughbred and they don’t come along often … Lots of teams are waiting to see where the dominos fall with Vancouver G Roberto Luongo before making a move for a netminder. Canucks GM Mike Gillis has told several teams he’s not doing anything until he gets his asking price. Yes, the Edmonton Oilers have what it takes to acquire Luongo, but he wouldn’t approve a trade there. The Panthers don’t want to make a deal unless Gillis is willing to take cash back. The Canucks know the pressure is mounting in some markets to win and they’ll find a desperate GM trying to save his job, maybe even Washington or Philly.

Time to offer-sheet or trade for Canadiens’ P.K. Subban?

As the P.K. Subban saga drags on, you have to wonder if there is a team out there that would consider an offer sheet for the defenceman, who remains far apart on a deal with the Montreal Canadiens following a meeting that yielded no progress Friday.

At the top of anybody’s list would be the Philadelphia Flyers, a club that tendered an offer to Shea Weber which was matched by the Nashville Predators last summer, and who lost another defenceman Friday when it was announced oft-injured Andrej Meszaros will be out for a month with a shoulder injury. With Chris Pronger’s career all but officially over because of a concussion, the Flyers have a need for a top blueline presence.
