Ryan Miller and Steve Ott are already gone and the Buffalo Sabres’ fire sale concludes today when the NHL trade deadline hits at 3 p.m.
The Sabres took Tuesday off and will practice today in the Tampa Bay Times Forum in preparation for Thursday night’s game against the Lightning. After practice, several players will be nervously awaiting their fate.
Halak and Stewart went from a Stanley Cup favorite to the 30th-place team Friday. It was a shock, but they’re willing to make the most of their time in Buffalo. They also know they might not spend much time there.
It’s entirely possible Sunday was the only practice they’ll ever have in First Niagara Center. Ottawa is highly interested in acquiring Stewart before Wednesday’s trade deadline, while the Star-Tribune in Minnesota reports the Wild are hot for Halak.
Christian Ehrhoff is scheduled to play in Buffalo until 2021. He may not make it to Thursday.
The Sabres have asked Ehrhoff to supply a list of eight teams to which he will not accept a trade. The defenseman, who is in the third year of a 10-year contract, has a modified no-trade clause but can be moved to the 21 teams he did not list.
Add Buffalo Sabres defenceman Christian Ehrhoff to the list of players the team is considering dealing before the NHL’s trade deadline.
Sabres also getting calls on defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. Like the other Sabres w/no-trades, he’s submitted his list.
