Two years now I’ve been saying the Leafs should follow the Boston model and get big on the wing. Funny for Boston assistant GM Benning is going after Kane for Vancouver.
These pieces rarely hit the market. Kane would help a culture change in Toronto. Wonder what a Kyle Dubas guy looks like because I know it’s not Evander Kane.
Not sure that’s a fair assessment of Dubas and his style, as we really haven’t got to see what that is. Not to mention Shanahan has a say and he was big and skilled, but may not like Kane’s attitude? We don’t really know what they are thinking, whatever it is though can’t be any worse then the thought process that has been used until now, lol.
What about Lucic attitude?
I read somewhere that arizona is interested in kessel, there center position is lacking especially when vermette leaves after this year. Im wondering if they’d take a shot at both kessel and bozak in a package deal in the offseason? really jumpstart there offense especially having hanzal and boedker on the second line.. wouldnt look all that bad. Coming back to make it worth wild for the leafs.. if we got OEL/Yandle (preferably OEL) and domi back for that package, I think it would be a very nice jumpstart to the leafs rebuild. Shed some salary, have a dman that is good now, with domi who could be good in a few years? After falling this year and having hopefully a top 5 pick.. nylander, reilly, domi to start a rebuild, and OEL who is still young and can grow with the hopefully quick rebuild would be very nice in my opinion. I’d still try to unload phaneuf if this went through but hey, after shedding that salary, we wouldnt be too strapped to the cap and having OEL-Phaneuf as a top pair looks pretty good on paper.
OEL is not being traded for Kessel, it does not fit what Arizona is trying to do.
I think people need to squash that idea (not even a rumour).
I think Arizona will make OEL available, but only for 2 guys…McDavid or Eichel.
Ok, Kessel is perceived as the better talent, I get OEL is an internet darling but in reality Phoenix having a top ten scorer, they’re all over it.

No, they’re not. I usually agree with you, but no way they trade OEL for Kessel.
Kessel on Phoenix is the Leafs 2.0, and new ownership is alot smarter then that.
