    Bergenheim done deal to Minnesota?

The hottest team in the league makes a solid depth pickup…I wonder if this starts a panic (Especially in the West).

According to Dreger the Leafs would ask for Burmistrov + 2nd from WPG for Winnik, and didn’t seem to suggest WPG would balk at the suggestion. That kind of makes me wonder if its possible that some high ranking team goes full panic mode and offers a 1st for him.

On that note, Burmistrov + 2nd seems like a more than fair offer for Winnik. Apparently he has ever intention on returning to the NHL, is a beast on the PK and has a positive possession impact with nearly every player he plays with.

Probably not, because as it stands now, how many teams left are willing to deal a 1st round pick? Only Tampa, who is looking for defensive help. That is why Toronto jumped on the Nashville deal.

WPG – No, because Chevy knows the only way players will go to Manitoba is through the draft. He is keeping his first.

So, I think a 2nd is great value for Winnik…Who has somehow become very overpriced in this trade market. Don’t get me wrong, he is an alright player, but he’s been getting some pretty good hype this deadline.

Burmistrov? Why not? It’s not like the Leafs are contending for a playoff spot anytime soon and it’s a no-risk, potential reward type player.

Ya you’d have to think Tampa and Winnipeg would be the only teams willing to move a 1st seeing as they have 2. But since Winnipeg is still fighting for a playoff spot I would think if they move a 1st it would be the one they received in the trade with Buffalo.

If they are actually offering that, I would try to offer them Lupul and Winnik and see if that’s enough to entice them to do Burmistrov and the late 1st. Although I’m not sure if they want to add a contract like Lupul’s at this point.

When I said the Jets have 2 firsts, I don’t think they intend to trade any of them. Maybe I did not make that clear.

Ya i got that. I just meant while I don’t expect him to trade either pick, if he does get desperate and decide to trade one of them I would think it would be the one they got from Buffalo. I would still try to get a 1st from them, but I think they keep both and maybe move some lower picks.

I wasn’t thinking Winnipeg for a potential first. Chicago maybe? Their first is going to be late and with the arms race going on in the central it is possible they panic. Although they are well run, so I guess it would be unlikely.

As long as that 2nd comes with Burmi i like it if not no way i do the deal

Nice to see Carolina win last night. 2 points back of Toronto with a game in hand.

Arizona though, they look like they won’t win another game. Thats too bad for Toronto.

Looks like Chicago will be busy now after losing Kane last night. Tough break.

    • LN91 says:

At this point, I doubt Arizona will win again.

Which is not a bad thing, as I think Edmonton will pass Arizona and Carolina will pass Toronto

      1) Buffalo – McDavid
      2) Arizona- Eichel
      3) Edmonton- Hanifin
      4) Toronto – Strome

      • nordiques100 says:

I’m looking more at the Leafs maybe getting a higher lottery % by finishing lower in the standings.

To be honest, i think the lottery should be fixed so that Toronto wins it. Who needs McDavid most? They do. And really i think that is best for the NHL to have one of the elite young players in one of the biggest markets and on an original 6 team. And with 2 elite centres, Buffalo gets one of them.

Edmonton falls to 3rd, gets the defenceman they need and really, who gives a shit about Arizona? No one.

        • LN91 says:

What is best for the NHL? McDavid going to Arizona.

At the end of the day, Toronto is a healthy franchise. McDavids Impact can do the same for Arizona…Look at what Crosby did to Pittsburgh.

          • doorman says:

I am not sure Arizona will ever be a successful franchise but that’s just me. And, if one player were the case I think it would be more likely Auston Matthews next year, being the home grown savior. I also think much like Toronto winning if Arz. did it would create a lot of questioning as to the motives.

            • LN91 says:

Oh I agree, like when Chicago moved up in the draft to get Kane.

And I think so, you saw in the “white out” playoffs that Arizona can bring fans into the stadium. Also, apparel sales will go through the roof like they did with Crosby. Sponsorship.

Let’s not forget, before Crosby arrived, they were talking about relocating the penguins.

We should crowd source a bribe so that Toronto wins it.
