Sharks Road to the Cup

For many years the Sharks have been favs to win the cup. The closest they came was 2004 when they lost in the WCF to the Flames in 6. The past 3 years they have lost in the WCSF to the Oilers, Red Wings and then the Stars last year. This lead to many changes in the Offseason. The firing of Ron Wilson, hiring Todd McLean, Aquiring Dan Boyle, signing Rob Blake all to improve the one aspect Doug Wilson felt they were weak in. Defence.

Well this year something is right they are currently 13-3-0 and sit atop 1st place in the league. Unfortunetly i still see weaknesses. This is what i believe they should do in the weeks coming up to the trade deadline.

SJ gets
Kesler

Van gets
Cheechoo

Yes i know why trade away Cheechoo? Simple because he has not had a decent season since 06-07 and Vancouver is Desperate for scoring. We get in return Kesler who is a great checker and can skate and score with the best young forwards.

San Jose gets
Antropov

Toronto gets
Goc
Kasper
2nd round in 10

Antropov should replace the scoring left when Cheechoo was traded, he might even provide more. His big bpdy 6’6 i believe he his should become a great screen infront for point shots such as Boyle.

San Jose gets
Eric Brewer

St Louis gets
Ehroff
Another prospect

Eric Brewer would play on the top line with Boyle and provides great defencive hockey and physical style. We give up Ehroff who is becoming a great shot from the point but if its just luck this year lets try and get something for it

Lineup going into the playoffs

Marleau-Thornton-Antropov
Michalek-Pavelski-Setoguchi
Clowe-Kesler-Grier
Shelley-Mitchell- Roenick

Boyle-Brewer
Blake-Vlassic
Murray-Luchawick

Nabokov
Boucher

Spares- Semenov, Philal, Staubitz

This is assuming Mitchell returns from his broken leg in top form
