Panthers about to start wheeling & dealing…and nobody cares!

Acording to Florida Panthers general manager Rick Dudley says he is “going to look at some options” to try and improve the team as the March 11 trade deadline approaches.

“We’ve got a couple of positions where we’ve got a lot of people,” Dudley tells the Palm Beach Post. “If we can be a better team through movement, we’re going to do that. We’re going to see if there’s anything that could put us over the hump.”

Has Clarkey lost his mind?!?! Still looking to add defensemen?!?!

Tim Panaccio of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting Flyers General Manager Bob Clarke “conceded” he was unable to pry defenceman Mathieu Schneider from the LA Kings, instead settling for adding depth by obtaining Dmitri Yushkevich yesterday. Clarke stated if another deal for a defenceman can be made by the deadline, he’ll do it.

Whos Going Where…And For What?

Bruce Garrioch of the Sun gives his look on what all the teams in the NHL will be looking for and willing to give up….

The Stars joining in the race for Burke?

This is coming from the website:

We all know how shaky is,but is there something brewing? Is Tuggy on the hot seat?

Dmitry Yushkevich

I am a die hard Flyers fan and want to know desperatly why Yushkevich is such a great pickup for the Flyers. Somebody please explain this one to me.

Selanne wants out?

According to the Finnish STT news agency, Teemu Selanne who would exercise his 3rd year option would not be interested in returning to San Jose.

Unless the Sharks put together a series of wins, Selanne would be demanding a change of address soon.

At 6 million $ a year, Selanne is an expensive but welcome scoring threat on any contending team. As a Hab fan, I would love to see him play with one of his best friends, Saku Koivu and see what kind of chemistry would develop between the two of them.

Realistically, I see him ending up with Colorado or Detroit as a playoff rental. Imagine him with Forsberg and Hejduk.

Sigh, I can already hear the Toronto fans screaming his name but who could blame them?

Mogilny-Sundin-Selanne? Ouch.

Housley Philadelphia bound?

Tim Panaccio of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Flyers may be interested in Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Phil Housley. ‘Hawks GM Mike Smith said he’s spoken to “every GM in the league” regarding the veteran, adding any deal involving Housley will involve draft picks coming to Chicago. The Flyers have 18 picks, including two in the first round, in the 2003 draft.

Is this the “powerplay fix” the Flyers need? With all the defensemen the Flyers have been rumored interested in Mathieu Schnieder, Alexi Zhitnik, Phil Housley in my mind at least would be a let down. This is of course all depends on what the Flyers have to give up. If the Flyers can get Housley and not give up alot in return, my tune would quickly change.

Housley is 39 years old. He’s been in the league since 1982. He has 6 goals and 23 assists in 57 games this year. Last year he scored 15 goals and 24 assists for the Blackhawks.

Brisebois to Wings?, TFP and Montreal radio station CKAC are reporting that Canadiens defenseman Patrice Brisebois will be headed to the Detroit Red Wings for defenseman Mathieu Dandenault.
