Montreal will have a word with Elias

According to RDS.ca, Elias would be on Montreal’s list of players they would add to their roster. Gainey is going to make an offer for his services after July 1st. The problem is that Elias could order a salary of 8M$… and that many teams would be interested in him!

Let's Save Mike Lange's Job!

Just like when CBC opted not to renew Ron Maclean’s contract and changed their mind later on when angry fan expressed their feelings, here’s a petition to try and get Mike Lange back on the air. If you are a fan of the Penguins or a hockey fan period, I urge you to sign it so the best color-commentator can continue to entertain us!

Jovanovski ain't all he's cracked up to be

As I am writing this, there are two all star defensemen still unsigned who will become UFAs on July 1st. I don’t know a whole lot about Chara, but being a Canucks fan I sure have my opinions on Jovanovski. I recognize this isn’t a breaking news story (or a news story of any kind for that matter) but I think its still important for those who haven’t seen Jovo play as much as I have.

Blue Jackets add Modin

According to tsn.ca, the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded goalie Marc Denis for forward Fredrik Modin, and goaltender Fredrik Norrena.

More to come.

Domi is on waivers, No option for Belfour and Roberts is coming back!

The “Fan 590” has announced that Domi has been put on waivers and if he is not picked up he will be bought out.

Belfour’s option will not be picked up so he will also be bought out.

Domi bought out

I think it’s appropriate I write the final Tie Domi article on HTR, as I am one of his few remaining supporters, and he’s always been my favorite player.

Wings lock up Lidstrom

The Detroit Red Wings have taken 2006 Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom off the free agent market, signing him to a two-year contract.

Leafs can't afford a big name!

The perception has been, for a while now, that the Leafs have a lot of money to spend on Free Agents. Unless, they manage to unload some contracts somewhere, this is simply not true. Some of my numbers or guesses may be slightly off, but the overall picture is pretty much what I am laying out here. The most up to date look at the numbers are as follows:

What can the Leafs afford really?
