Anaheim Mighty Ducks – Season Preview

I was going to do this on corel word perfect and post it in September, but the lockout was called. With the high level of optomism, I feel it’s time to start making predictions, which are sure to make every single one of you yell at me.So I’ll go alphabetically, here comes the quack attack.

With the trade of Vaclav Prospal, they are a tad weeker on offence then before. Not that much weeker, he did have a week season. Although after leaving Tampa Bay because he thought they weren’t good enough, I don’t see why the Cup Champion lightning would want him back.

Their roster looks like this:

Leclerc/Federov/Sykora

Neidermayer/Rucchin/Lupul

Getzlaf/McDonald/Kunitz

Burnette/Pahlson/Brent

Ozolibch/Malec

Carney/Skoula

Salei/Vishnevski

Giguere

Bryzgolav

Funny without Oates, Kariya, and Thomas, this team looks so much crappier. I kept saying they’d make the playoffs but I doubt it now. For Brent to make this roster I went to the Cincinatti Mighty Ducks (Their farm team) web site, and picked a prospect at random. Lupul and Getzlaf are good prospects. But can they cut it big league? Ya, that was only asked cuz I couldn’t think of a really big question, the fact of the matter is, they suck.

Top 5 in goals

1. Sergei Federov: 35

2. Steven Rucchin: 29

3. Ryan Getlaf: 25

4. Joffery Lupul: 23

5. Rob Neidermayer: 20

Top 5 in points

1. Sergei Federov: 83

2. Steven Rucchom 67 (My favorite Number)

3. Rob Neidermayer: 60

4. Ryan Getzlaf: 57

5. Petr Sykora: 50

I think I was a little generous there. I decided Getzlaf, and Lupul would have high goals, and lowe points because they are both great scorers, but young players have a tendencey to be a little more selfish. I think Rich Nash is living proof of that.

Now, we should hope for the Ducks sake that Federov has a better season. He can score, but can he this year? If he has a Sergei Federov year then the Ducks will at least come close to making the playoffs, if not, we may see Crosby quacking his way to southern California.

Where do I see them? Well in a week division (LA, Dallas, San Jose, and Phoenix) They can come in maybe third. I guess we can’t consider the Coyotes or the Sharks “week” teams. The playoffs, I think not!

The trade deadline might involve some fun. If they salary dump, then expect Federov to be shopped again, I think he’ll be in Ottawa by the end of next year.

So how will the Ducks do?

Division: 3rd

Conference: 11th

League 23rd

Overall not a bad season… if you’re a Pens fan.

See ya later, hope their’s a season, and next up I’m going to Atlanta.
