Though I think that Telly would be a better long term option, the Leafs are in a rebuilding phase, and I agree that he would probably get more on the open market than Aubin.

This is the back-up position, and while an important part of the team make-up, not a cruical one such as Raycroft. With Pogge waiting in the wings and a solid back-up like Aubin signed, it is safe to move Telly and hopefuly get a respectable pick or depth player for him.

Telly did blow a big opportunity last year, but rather than indicate lack of skill, I think it more showed his immaturity at this point. Aubin has a lot more experience behind him, and was able to take that situation more in stride.

Telly would be a great fit for a team looking to groom a primary netminder. The Leafs already have Raycroft and Pogge, both still fairly young and with plenty of room to grow in the organization. Telly doesn't seem to fit in this anymore. I honestly think the Leafs will move him in the next few months.

I’m talking about when he was on the Pens, please read right…. I’m referring to the other guys post that said he has a history of flopping when games count, When he was on the Pens, What counted? Nothing, so I am sticking up for Aubin.

Even if Telly would be a "good fit" in Pittsburgh. They won't be able to move Thibault.

I'd guess Vancouver would be most likely looking for a backup with Norrenen playing in Europe this year.

Injuries exactly. Don’t forget Wellwood was cut last year, and when mats got hurt game 1, Wellwood came up and never looked back.

Never played a gamed that counted? He played about 15 with the Leafs last year when they were making a desperate push for the playoffs and he played pretty well, if only Telquist could respond to that kind of pressure in Montreal the Leafs may have made the playoffs.

Aubin . . period . ..next question

i am not sasying this so difinitavely as a put down to Telly . . .i think they are both equal in tallent and consistency . . .i think telly is worth more to the Leafs on the open market . . telly has a slightly larger contract and can produce if given the chance . . .he can be a #1 on the right team (Pittsburgh would be a good fit to challenge Fleury) and aubin has the fans on his side by and large. i think telly a prospect(either off the roster or out of the AHL) and a pick(2-4 round) would go a long way in bringing in what the leafs need right now . . .some offence . . .might not get a top line winger but a solid 2nd line guy with some touch would be ideal . . .in conclusion . . .Aubin all the way
