Pronger stomp ruled to be clean

Chris Pronger’s skate stomp to the ankle of Ryan Kesler was ruled to be a non-suspendable offence by the NHL today.

According to Bob Perno who was on the air at CKAC radio, Brad Richards has been traded to Dallas and the trade should be announced around 1pm today.

According to TSN, Mike Comrie has signed a 1year, 4M$ contract to remain an Islander.

According to Eklund at HockeyBuzz, Ilya Bryzgalov has signed a 3-year extension with the Coyotes.

terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Richards signing Imminent

Mike Richards is close to signing a deal with the Flyers. Rumor is the deal is a massive contract in terms of years, possibly over 10. Also rumored to be between $5.5-$6 million per year. This signing is a must! The longer the better. And Richards deserves every penny. Holmgren is denying a deal is “done”, but apparently there is just a few legal technicalities to work out.

Bergeron Update

GM Peter Chiarelli provided an update on Patrice Bergeron, who suffered a Grade 3 concussion six days ago when Philadelphia defenseman Randy Jones belted him into the TD Banknorth Garden boards.

“He could be out a month. He could be out two months. He could be out a year,” Chiarelli said.

Spezza signs a 7-year extension!

sources are reporting that Jason Spezza has signed a 7yr $49mil extension with a provisional no trade clause.

Spezza will be paid 8M$ for the first 5 season and then 5M$ and 4M$ for the last two.

He will have a 7M$ cap hit on the Sens cap.

Sabres sign Pratt

The Buffalo Sabres have come to terms with unrestricted free agent Nolan Pratt. The 32 year old defenseman came off a good season with the Lightning last year collecting 8 points in 81 games. He is a very solid defenseman, but has very few offensive characteristics. He will suit the Sabres penalty kill.
