tragic news for the Vancouver Canucks organization and it’s fans today as they learned that their top prospect defensemen, Luc Bourdon, has been killed in a motorcycle accident.
He was 21 and was expected to crack the lineup next season.
all our thoughts goes to Bourdon’s friends and family.
Since the shootout has come into the NHL, the number of three point games has greatly increased. Instead of the occasional overtime win or overtime loss, mixed in with a lot of ties, we now always have a winner, meaning every overtime game is worth three points. I am not a fan of the shootouts. I don’t think it makes sense to have something in the regular season that you don’t in the postseason. And yes, the same would hold true for ties, but ties are not an entirely new aspect to the game like a shootout is.
Here are my predictions for who will round out which order to go to the playoffs, and the playoff predictions itself. I tried to use as much insight as possible, and accompanied a rating of each teams three departments (Offence, Defence, and Goaltending) based on this years perfomance and the latest performance. I also invented the GSP (Grade System Points) to make a prediction at who will win the Cup. Please refer to the Legend if need clarification. My own predictions follow.
Regular Season Standings:
As the days continue, and the Los Angeles Kings continue to lose, it is fair for one to beleive that they will land the first overall pick.
If you watch TSN enough, and see all the constant reminders, Steven Stamkos is the shoe in to go number one. So if Los Angeles selects him, they have a future team leader which is great for the a young and blossoming team, but they are also faced with a major problem, five centres who all have the possibility of being on the teams top line.
According to newspaper La Presse (citing the Toronto Sun), Mats Sundin refused to agree on a deal that would’ve sent him to Montreal at the Trade Deadline.
