TSN is reporting that the Buffalo Sabres have declined to pick up J.P. Dumont’s 2.9 million arbitration award.
How are these numbers determined exactly. Is it just me or do the arbitration awards this year seem way out of wack to anybody else??
There seems to be many teams that are looking to dump salary, but few who can take it.
According to tsn.ca on tuesday the Chicago Blackhawks have signed goaltender Sebastien Caron to a one-year contract.
Spectorshockey is reporting that veteran NHL defencemen Cory Cross and Sean Brown will play in Germany next year, joining “an ever-growing number” of former NHLers to play that country.
Eklund is reporting that the Rangers may be interested acquiring another D-Man this offseason. However, it looks like it isn’t going to be Brian Leetch, the Rangers are apparently showing interest in recently released David Tanabe.
As of right now the Rangers have quite a solid bunch of signed players through next season, and at this point it is just a question of who will make the lineup, and who might be traded. Here is what the Rangers have at each position:
From TSN.Ca: The website for Metallurg Magnitogorsk claims that Evgeni Malkin has signed a new contract and will be playing in Russia for the 2006-2007 season.
After finishing 6th in the Western conference with 98 points and going to the conference finals, the Ducks were looking good with a core of young players’ mixed with some veterans. They were a good team and they improved by adding superstar Chris Pronger.
How many teams can say they have 2 defenseman capable of winning the Norris Trophy? Not many, if any… Beauchemin is good as a 3rd defenseman and he was great during the playoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are making decisions that they normally wouldn’t in the past. Being forced to spend under $44 million dollars when the team is accustomed to no limits at all is forcing the team to change philosophy.
According various message boards and unconfirmed reports the Vancouver Canucks are interested in acquiring free agent right-winger Valeri Bure. Bure has not played in an NHL game since 2003-04 due to back injuries and the lockout that took place the following season.
