Briere is a 1st line player and makes a lot of things happen. No way the Habs are getting that. Not unless the Sabres get a better player than Briere or two top 6 forwards, or a top 6 forward and top pairing d-man.

i don’t think we actually need another small speedy player like brière. what we need is a big center that we can put on the line with samsonov and kovalev, exemple; robert lang..or somebody else that teams are not willing to keep or must trade away..and about souray, he never wanted to leave montreal, it was another bullcrap rumor from a bullcrap radio station

alright heres my theory to get Briere first off you trade Aebischer to a team like Detroit for a 1st or 2nd round pick, then you have Danis back up until Price is ready, then you trade Rivet for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, then you sign Danny Markov (the best D-Man available in UFA) for around 1.5 million which saves the habs 1 mill, then finally you trade Ribs and the two draft picks to Buffalo for Briere. ANd if they dont like it throw in a prospect.

I agree, Gagne said so himself that he’d rather stay in Philly and if Montreal gave him an offer, he’d hope the Flyers would equal or offer more so he can stay. Briere > Ribeiro but Buffalo won’t trade him to Montreal, a division rival.

3 Team trade is a possibility Ottawa didint want to trade Bonk to us initally but we somewhat pulled off a 3 team trade for him if Gainey wants him it can be done

Briere stays a Sabre, and Gomez is smiling just waiting to hear his award from those crazy judges!

Briere is not coming to Montreal, and I wouldn't be surprised if he stays in Buffalo. While I think he isn't yet worth 5 mil, he had amazing production while healthy.

First off, what would Montreal trade to get him? What is Montreal willing to trade to get him? I don't think Gainey is willing to deplete our roster for him, and we don't have that much cap space to spare. I highly doubt Briere, especially at 5 mil a year, is coming our way.

Man, just because he is Quebecois doesn't mean he automattically would die to play for the Habs
