You could take Wheeler out? I wouldn't say its throwing away the secound pick Penner is coming off a 32 goal year playing with far less talented line mates than he would in Boston. Hemsky when healthy is an amazingly creative player.

Ryder and Ferrence have no value/negative value due to cap hits and Thomas due to the contract is pretty low in terms of trade value.

The reason I like the trade for Boston is that I think next year they are a top 4 team in the east. Add a couple of solid pieces remove the cap liabilities and the B's have a shot 2-4 cup runs with this core. And the best part about it is that they give up one pick/prospect they still have a ton of picks and prospects in the system. Frees up enough room to sign all important RFA and UFA and add aback up goalie.

Can you imagine Boston icing a team like this:

Lucic Savard Hemsky

Penner Bergeron Wheeler

Strurm Krjeic Recchi

Paille Sobotka Begin

Chara Wideman

Sidenburg Boychuk

Hunwick Stuart

Rask

UFA

That line up has the potential to be crazy good.

I think there is a considerable drop off after Seguin and Hall. It looks to be a two horse race. I am glad Boston has one of those picks. It really is the only thing in my opinion that makes up for losing Kessel's, probably 40 goals this past season in a Bruins uniform. In a different world, Boston could be playing Chicago right now for the cup. Kessel might have been the difference in the Philly/Boston series. Well....that is a lot of what if's.

I really think Edmonton needs a centerman so they should be keen on Seguin and Boston really needs a winger, so they should be keying on Hall. On the flip side if they are going to overpay for the flip flop, I say no, I would be more than happy with Seguin at #2.

I do not like that deal really. Basically throwing away the #2 pick just to shed some salary. I dont think so. Hemsky is a hell of a player and Penner I am not quite sold on yet. The only way I like a trade with Edmonton is if Eberle or the #1 pick is coming back to Boston.

Would you consider the deal i proposed above? Solves all your cap issues. Doesn't leave with a top 2 pick though.

I'm against trading up unless they can get Edmonton to somehow take the Bruins unwanted salary. I fully expect Seguin to fall to number two and if he doesn't I probably won't be looking for a bridge to jump off of. I'd way rather want Chiarelli to put a package together to grab one of the top 3 defensemen.

"trust me"...

Uhh I think I'll go with all the pro scouts who believe there's a huge gap btw Seguin/Hall and the rest of the pack.

The only "bust" here is your proclamation of Seguin being a bust.
Worse, you give no reason whatsoever. Everyone should just believe, lol
I'm not sure what this deal is supposed to accomplish for Edmonton (besides upsetting Oil fans)... they give away their #1 pick with a few overpaid underachievers..... they downgrade to the #3 pick,, and get a different group of overpaid underachievers in return?

This deal really seems pointless. Edmonton will want something substantial in return.. none of these players did anything for Columbus, and they wouldn't do anything in Edmonton either. And Oil would be giving up the #1 to boot.
thomas was one of the best golies in the legue in his contract year.

That was a good signing, but they should have traded him while they could when rask showd he could do a better job.

Uless of course he has a NTC then maybe then it would be a poor signing just because they new rask would be good, not great but at least good.
