Moronic media members? Unrealistic fan expectations? Take your pick. Crawford may not be picky for a job but he may not want to be in Montreal.

But I largely agree. Toronto, Montreal, Wings. These jobs should be cherished and desired by people. There friggin Original 6 teams and storied, storied franchises. They should carry weight in job searches and guys should be clamouring for the jobs.

But I can't blame coaches or players for not wanting that craziness. Some people just can't deal with that kind of pressure. Can't hold that against them if you ask me. Some people just weren't born with thick skins.

Exactly. As long as a contract exists, the team that previously employed them needs to give permission for that team to talk to that person. Until the contract ends, regardless of whether the person was fired or if they resigned, they still need permission to go somewhere else.

and what exactly did wilson go through… fans chanting fire wilson?… thats about it… coaches get fired.. that just the business…. not many coaches ever last 10 + years on one team… even the best get canned eventually…. Scotty Bowman was let go or fired a few times before… the real question is why wouldnt he want to coach again in the league… for one of the most storied franchises in sports no less… Jobs on teams such as the leafs, habs, Wings…. these jobs should be covetted not feared…. as far as I'm concerned, if you're afraid of your image and being a target for the media, then you lack the integrity to be successful… and at that point I don't want someone like that….. If you lack integrity then you'll have a real hard time being successful…I really am tired of people always questioning that part of our Teams../. yeah sure its a fact that the media are hounds… but If you have any reservations about the media at all… then you my friend are not even close to being right for our team… go live a sheltered obscure life in the ever bottom feeding teams of the south and mid southI'm sure you can agree

The NHL, does the same thing with coaches when they are either fired or resign, I believe permission is needed either way. Don't count on the leafs looking to strengthen one of their division rivals, lol.

I think he more meant in a way like an owner hiring a green GM, so that he can more easily pull strings. However, it may no be the case either, Bergevin, may have total control, who knows?
