Who would you be willing to give up if your team was interested in Jack Johnson?

I was trying to think of a fantasy trade to get LAdd too. That one’s not bad, I sincerely doubt that Rutherford would give up both Ladd and Johnson though.

Well I’m sure its possible, if he would like us to sweeten the trade alittle more I’m sure we could. Maybe we could throw a goalie in as well, whos their back up goalie?

  3. OldGoalie says:

Sounds like Buffalo in the late ’80s or early ’90s when they had Clint Malarchuk, Dale Hawerchuk, Darcy Wakaluk, Dave Andreychuk…

    It shows.

    Wings

    Kronwall 2nd rounder for Jackman

    or

    Zherdev Klesla/Johnson Ladd

    or

    Johnson/Tomas Kabrele 2nd round pick

I can’t believe you and others are dissing him for wanting to stay in school. More athletes should do that. I guess you don’t value education that much. Aside from wanting to be educated, he also wants to be a normal college student. There’s nothing wrong with that.

  7. BruMagnus says:

You’re an idiot then. Erik Cole will be the best power forward in the league this year, scoring 40-50 goals, so long as Brooks Orpik doesn’t injure him again.

  8. BruMagnus says:

I love Jags, but he has never done anything major in the playoffs without Mario.

  9. BruMagnus says:

Or how about that Naslund for Gagne rumor? I’m sure Nonis will do that now!

  10. BruMagnus says:

I don’t/wouldn’t want to trade Gonchar. He had a point per game production going for the last couple of months when paired with Whitney coupled with the team finally starting to mesh. I saw him rise from 37th to 8th in D-men scoring over that time. Yet another top 10 finish for the man who has the most points among defensemen over the past 5 seasons.

  11. BruMagnus says:

    Now that’s funny.

But seriously he is right that we should allow line speculations. In fact, if you go into the August archives, you can see one of the best posts this summer by me on just such.

  12. BruMagnus says:

Actually Johnson was taken 3rd overall, after Crosby and Anaheim’s Bobby Ryan. Gilbert Brule went 6th. Luc Bourdon 10th. LA’s Anze Kopitar 11th and the Rangers got a steal of Marc Staal at 12th (whom the Canes were looking hard at but decided for Johnson, a trade straight up may not be out of the question [with maybe a 3rd rounder added]).

  13. BruMagnus says:

Hey moron, your precious Carlo Colaiacovo is injured and sucks.

Crosby will be the best player in the NHL this season. It won’t even be funny.

  14. BruMagnus says:

    With Washington:

Brian Pothier, Alexander Semin, 2nd rounder (which is almost as good as some teams 1st rounder).

  15. BruMagnus says:

No, he wouldn’t. Because unlike JFJ, Rutherford runs a legitimate organization.

It is a fine line. Gonchar per se, I believe will have a really good season, but on the other hand Johnson is one of those “must have” defensemen. Johnson is also ready for the NHL, as per all the reviews from around the NHL, and perhaps with some influence from his good friend Sidney Crosby, he might be willing to join the NHL earlier than he would with Carolina.

In the end, it will not happen regardless in my opinion, since I doubt Gonchar is the kind of defenseman Carolina would like to have, and from Pittsburgh’s view Gonchar is too valuable for Malkin (they do live together, translates on the bench, and is helping Malkin adapt).

Gonchar is going nowhere. At least for now.

I was just stating basically, without saying it, that the Pens do not have what Carolina is looking for.
