I love the idea of a Begin-Lapierre-Dandenault(whoever is the better face-off man can be the center) shut-down/checking line.

Dandenault was a defenseman, so he knows about the defensive mentality.
And Begin and Lapierre are both good disturbers, what better way to stop the other teams best scorers than annoying them so much they take stupid penalties?

I also think Latendresse should be on the top line. He has the 4th most goals on the team with 7.
Of the other players that have been put with Higgins/Koviu, Dandenault, Ryder, Smolinski, none of them have over 4.
I mean, he's obviously not a top line forward, but he's the closest thing the Habs have that fits.

I think the best thing for the Habs to do is give the kids as much ice time as possible, let them lose and grow together, and get a few high draft picks and get some game-breaking talent.

I also think that it's a coaching problem as well. Not a player problem. Although i believe its a problem with carbos well documented fetish for constantly switching up his line combonations. He's even started to call on the youth in hamilton. I believe there is a move needed. An "impact player" is definitely needed. Ryder is gone. either thru trade or at the ned of the year thru free agency. He's gone sports fans. And i say good riddance. hes draggin ass and has no place on this team anymore. Gorges is anoter player who is just filler on the lineup. He;s gotta be out on his way. our second line of Kovy-Plecs-Kosty, is not to be touched. Latendresse now heres a kid who has potential but needs to realize it himself. He needs more speed and discover how to use his body more. He has started to show signs of his power forward potential as of late but needs to work on it. Begin is also useless. He's very prone to injury and his skills are just not up to par. I've got to much on my mind to really sort thru so heres the deal.......... this is what i think our line-up should look like next yearto be a cup contender.

Now i know most of you will disagree with alot of what i have on my line-up.
But im a big believer and fan of young talent and developing that talent to its full potential. I believe with a talented Center ( a la Lemieux) Kovalev would become a consistent goal scorer he should be. The second line of the kosty bros with pleks would be a great young scoring line. The third line would bring some hard working goals here and there while shutting down other teams #1 and/or 2 lines ( a la Bonk and Johnson) Whom i absolutely loved by the way. and the fourth line would bring some energy and bang and maybe get some momentum going when the game seems lost. Maybe instead of Aubin on the 4th slap in Max.P... he's the type of player we need.

So lemme hear what you all think.

Do you find it coincidental that the Habs are going through the same slump in a 2nd year in a row by the Same Head Coach? IN both years? odd isnt it.. By the way Marleau and Bernier for Koivu and Ryder. Appearently someone said McKenzie suggested that O_O. I'd do that in a heart beat but anyway.

You're blaming Smolinski for being injured???

How can you blame Koivu for 5 goals when his linemate all year, Michael Ryder, has done nothing but drag Koivu and Higgins down ? That right their, is Carbonneau's fault. Not to mention Koivu isn't a goal scorer. If you want to blame Markov for his +/-, you mind as well show the whole story as he's leading the defensive corps with 6 goals and 19 points. And I suppose that Mark Streit's play is really helping out Montreal's cause? Considering he's done nothing but hurt Montreal all year with his shoddy defensive play and his soft passes that usually turn into give aways.

I'm not the biggest fan of Huet but you're gonna sit their and say that he isn't stealing games when he has a 2.35 GAA and .926SV%?

And you're gonna say that Habs fans aren't pointing the finger at Michael Ryder? Do you not read anything on this site? Almost every Habs comment is blaming Michael Ryder because of his lack of production.

As for Brisebois, yes he's been bad at times this year but he's also played better overall D then a player by the name of Mark Streit.

I've been a Carbo supporter since the beginning and you know what, he'll never be a good coach when he continually makes the same mistakes he did his rookie year while making brand new ones night in, night out his second year. To be a good coach you have to learn from past mistakes and make sure to avoid new mistakes and through 112 NHL games, it is very apparent Carbo isn't learning.

I agree on the 4 line thing. But I believe guy carbaneau can be a good coach and people need to be more patient. How about pointing the fingers at the players?

Koivu = 5 goals
Markov = has a +/- of -9 (supposed to be our shutdown dman)
Ryder = 3 goals
Huet = record of 7-6-1, He plays great but can't steal/win a game
Smolinski = 2 goals and +/- of -7 (supposed to be a checking line center and now hes out for 6 weeks, won't help them either)
Briseboise = Why is this guy still playing???

Out with the old....In with the new!....In other words our verterans aren't doing their job besides Kovalev.

As much as I would love to See Carbo go, I don't think Gainey would can him. He worked hard 2 get Carbo his job so I doubt hes gonna fire him anytime soon. For that matter I don't think Gainey would fire anyone, or trade anyone anytime soon lol He insists on waiting. News flash we arn't getting even close to the cup. Don't be surprised if we get a first or second spot in the draft pick. We are playing horrible, sure our record looks nice but we are on the same slump we hit last feb. If carbo and gainey dont get it in gear, we wont have much of a year.
