Good article as usual. I believe Carolina has helped themselves by adding Stillman and Whitney, which I see clearly both on the first 2 lines. For my opinion, Vrbata is still a flop for now, but you're right, he's one of the many talented players that could create surprises in the "new NHL". But for now, he will have to produce while playing on the third line, as Whitney and Williams are more proven players. One thing concerning the Hurricanes: it's been more than a year now, and I don't understand why they make room for Gerber. We'll see.

I agree.. Whitney and Stillman more than make up for a bad season from O'Neill - this team will improve on last year's disappointment.

nice article, i only hope one part is wrong. Ray Whitney on the 3rd line is a horrible idea. If this guy is not gonna be on one of ur top 2 lines they should trade him, he will fail as a 3rd liner, like the role he had in Detroit and like Luc Robitalle's last year in Detroit. He needs/deserves the chance and ice time that he recieved when he was in Columbus in order to be effective

This team has the potential to surprise. There are a lot of sleeper players who can perform better than you'd think, especially in the new NHL, as well as a lot of young guys who could really step it up a notch. If they're goalie tandem plays well they could compete for a playoff spot. They've done well in the pre-season so far.
