Curtis Joseph a Penguin??

Mark Madden on ESPN Radio 1250 in Pittsburgh is reporting that Curtis Joseph has inked a deal with the Penguins.

Interesting decision considering the depth with Marc-Andre Fleury and Sebastein Caron.

interesting…maybe he’s gonna back up fleury?

i hope they didnt waste more than a few million on cujo…they should let fleury start this year, and with a cap you wouldnt wanna waste more than a few mil on a backup goalie

i saw this comming a long time ago.im interested in seeing if its long term or not?

i suspect it would be nothing more than say 2 mil for 1 season. more of an attempt to encourage fan support than anything, and if the club is to contend a raw goalie like fleury alone cant cut it.

He is brought in to mentor Fleury the same way Lemieux is mentoring Crosby! Good move!

This is the one area I am really disappointed in with the Leafs.

Why not buyout Belfour and bring back Joseph for a year. You can get him for a couple million less and he brings pretty much the same thing to the team.

    Good pick-up for the Pens.

If I remember correctly, Caron was in net for most Montreal-Pittsburgh games last year and he looked pretty bad…

So bringing in Cujo at a low price (hopefully) will provide a lot of stability and maybe allow the Pens to pick Fleury’s games more carefully…

Uhhhh aren’t the Penguins piss poor?? Werent they near bankrupt while only having a payroll of about $19.36 last year besides Lemieux?? Didnt Fluery go down to the minors last year so they didnt have to pay him a small bonus?? Now they have signed Gonchar, Recchi, and maybe CuJo?? Someone tell me whats going on!

New majority owner (chipped in $12mil to payroll) and new CBA.

dont know about that, maybe guide fluery, and maybe lure even more fans in, and give the team a better chance to win games

AS far as I know, CuJo is not a penguin yet. All Mark Madden said was that the Pens were LOOKING at him, as well as Burke, Osgood, Khabibulin, et al.
