Ducks trading Vishnevski?

According to TSN, the Ducks are apparently actively shopping defensemen Vitaly Vishnevski after he’s been awarded a 1-year, 1.55M$ contract. If they can’t find a taker, they might opt not to accept the arbitrator ruling thus making Vishnevski an Unrestricted Free Agent.

wow. i’m surprised by this. vishnevski is a rocksteady defenseman. $1.55 million is a fair value for him in my opinion. you may even be underpaying him at that price.

  2. Lint07 says:

The Habs should try and get him in a deal involving Souray who wants to be dealt near California.

    How ’bout:

    To Anaheim: Sheldon Souray-D (2,4M$), David Aebischer-G (1,9M$), Radek Bonk-C (2,3M$)

    To Montreal: Vitaly Vishnevski-D (1,5M$), J-S Giguère-G (3,9M$), Todd Marchant-C (2,4M$)

  3. RangerSteve says:

Nice trade idea, but do you really think that Burke would like the swap of Marchant for Radek Bonk? They save a little over a million in this trade, but I think Montreal might have to sweeten the pot just a little bit with maybe a prospect or pick?

  4. muckies says:

This is just a acse of Burke flexing his muscle and showing the Duck players that if they don’t agree to the numbers set out by Burke, and they take the team to arbitration and don’t do as he pleases, he’ll trade the player.

He likes to pick on the players that are young, the guys that don’t have a huge influence on the club. He did it to players in Vancouver like Scaffer who had to sit out a year, old man Trent Klatt who refused to take a pay cut to stay in Van.

The message has been sent by Burke, Go to arbitration and you’ll get traded. But he always picks on the little guys so he can appear big and strong and tough to the young players.

  5. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

It works for him. He leaves vancouver and then they miss the playoffs, He goes to Anaheim and they go to the Western conference finals.

  6. glennbauer says:

thats is the worst trade in the history of trades Dancin shoes!!! Are u related to Mike Milbury?lol

with the addition of pronger they can also deal beauchemin:

To Anaheim: Souray, aebisher and perezhogin

To Montreal: vishnevski, beauchemin and perry. we dont need another small forward like marchant, and as for giguere, we could just move up Yan Danis from the minors.

  7. passionch says:

Well, I’d like to have Vishnevski in Montreal though the trade does need more incentive from Montreal for Anaheim to take the deal.

  8. MT4e says:

with the way Bonk played the second half of the season, and the incredible chemistry he has with Bégin and do not trade him. Bonk will work from the start of the 06-07 season.

  9. magnifikko says:

Hell no! Giguere sucks…and sheldon is a leader in the habs locker room.

  10. wayne2 says:

Trust me as a sens fan i`ve seen Bonk play a lot and dont be fooled by the second half of the season if you guys can get rid of him do it,he shows glimps of his IHL talent here and there but lacks heart most of the time.

  11. kamullia says:

A GM that gets this fax from Burke, would just wait for Burke to give up on it and sign him as a free agent. No loss of assets that way.

Burke’s best chance for a return is to take the award, and then trade him. If not, call it a salary dump and let him walk, since I seriously doubt anyone will give anything for him knowing they can have him without a trade.

  12. muckies says:

Hossa made Bonk a very rich man, Bonk’s a floater and without all the Power Play time Martin gave him with Havlat, Alfie, Redden and Hossa , he would be making 600 00 and centering a 4th line somewhere.

  13. Lint07 says:

we actually HAD Beauchemin and got rid of him. I do not want him back. He’s overrated.

Any guy playing with Scott Niedermayer will look like an allstar.

There’s a reason both Montreal and Columbus got rid of him in the same season (Poor work ethic).

And by the way, your trade proposal sounds like an NHL2006 fan dream.

Anaheim have 2 #1 goalies, they don’t need a 3rd one. Also there’s no way they get rid of Corey Perry for anything less than a star player.

  14. habsfan09 says:

would never happen… why would the habs want to tie up approximately 7M on 2 different goalies? As for Bonk, the habs are stuck with him and his giant salary, however he did excel at the defensive aspect at the final half of the season…but nevertheless its not gonna happen

  15. habsfan09 says:

This is exactly why most people should stop posting “trade proposals”…if you told this idea to any GM they would laugh in your face…Gigure, Aebischer, and Bryzgalov all on the same team…just stupid

  16. Preft says:

Trade him to la for…#3 draft pick

  17. canucksfan1 says:

hey u guys ever think that burke would deal wit his old buddy nonis

to vancouver: Vitaly Visnevsky, Andy Mcdonald

to anaheim: Kevin Bieksa, Brendan Morrison, 07 2nd round pick

anaheim could pick up a solid young d-man that could play with Beauchemin or even niedermeyer or pronger, they would also get a solid center to play with teeemu

nd vancouver gets a solid tough d- man to play with matthias or sami nd they also get that quickness that they need with mcdonald as he will be playin wit nazzy

    wut u guys think??

  18. Kyleton says:

I don’t see Mcdonald moving anywhere right now. He had a pretty good season last year, and even the year before the lock out aswell, so I think the Ducks are going to hang onto him.

  19. bruinfan_2 says:

    ducks: tanabe 6th round pick

    bruins: Vishnevski , future considerations

  20. TheStryker says:

I would love Perry, but we would have to through in a first rounder. And the Ducks don’t need any more goaltending

  21. TheStryker says:

The Bruins don’t need anymore D.

  22. bruinfan_2 says:

tanabe is a d man so u dont gain one

  23. peataters says:

    pitsburgh:Vishnevski, beachman, 3rd round

    anaheim:1st round

  24. canucksfan1 says:

true true u cant just giv up a 30 goal scorer like dat

  25. sharksfan3991 says:

    This would be good:

    To SJ: Vitaly Vishnevski (1.55M)

To ANA: Rob Davison (0.495M), 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2008
