Dumont dying to be a Hab?

On 110% tv show last wednesday… Commentary from Michel Villeneuve:

“I spoke with JP Dumont’s Agent today. He told me that JP asked him not to call him during the week-end because of the death of his grand-dad. “NO CALL! Except If MONTREAL calls, call me right after!”

Now, you know how he wants to play in Montreal.

Michel Bergeron (former Nordiques head coach) said during this show… “Gainey is probably meeting Carbo and his team to know what to do with all that… Who could be out to place for Dumont is probably the question they debate.”

Experience told everything.

I Expect Gainey to ship Bonk elsewhere.

It’s wednesday morning and RDS is reporting that the Habs have not made an offer to JP Dumont. The two sides have talked but no offer was made. The article also states that JP would like to pick a team in the next 48 hours as he would like to have his familly moved and settled before the season starts. Stay tuned it’ll get interesting…

if he is going to pick a team in the next 48 hours and the Habs have not made an offer, then this whole story remains a non event for habs fans

CJAD is reporting that JP Dumont is close to signing with a team, but it looks like it will not be the Montreal Canadiens.

Apparently, three other teams have expressed more interest than the Habs, and it is being reported that they are all in the same division as the Canadiens.

JP Dumont himself has been quoted as saying that it looks like he will only be playing in Montreal during road games.

The three teams and the leading contender, who Dumont is expected to sign with today, have not been named.

It looks like another player has used the Canadiens interest to increase their bargaining position with another team never having the intention of signing with the Habs in the first place.

So, who are the teams? New Jersey, Ottawa, Toronto and Philly all seem to be near (or over) the cap, and we now know the Canadiens are out of the picture as well. Any guesses?

How are the Habs not deep? They currently have at least 5 forewards capable of 60-70+ points, two #1 goaltenders and some great young talent. The only place they don’t have alot of depth is on the blue line.

It has been many years since the Habs have looked this good. I hope Gainy keeps up the good work.
