Ed Belfour to miss 1st round of playoffs??

After Owen Nolan, Ken Klee, Darcy Tucker and Mikael Renberg getting injured just before the playoff starts, now #1 goaltender Ed Belfour joins the already long list of injured Leafs…(CAKC-AM 800)

According to CAKC in Montréal, Belfour would have broken 2 bones in his left hand during his last start against the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Maple Leafs organisation refused to comment on the story but the news would come from ”someone close to Ed Belfour”. At first he apparently thought it was only a simple bruise but when it refused to heal properly in the following days he would’ve consulted team’s doctors.

Belfour missed several games recently because of back problems and the Leafs were struggling during his absence. This can’t be good news for Toronto fans that are dreaming of the Stanley Cup this year…

It is believed that Trevor Kidd will be asked to replace Belfour in his absence during the playoffs. Kidd should be the starter friday night against the Sabres.
