Yah yah I know its the Devils and who really cares. And truth be told I like to mock the Rangers hating Devils as much as the next guy but… Gomez centering a line with Mogilny and Elias as his wingers… Any team with a top line like this and a goalie like Brodure… Can beat anyone in the playoffs even if they squeek in as a 7 or 8 seed. Look at their roster… Its solid – now that you add a top first line. Man I really dont like the Devils! Actually, Its not the Devils that I dislike, its their “I hate the Rangers fan club” a Devils fan must! join in order to be really accepted by other Devils fans. Anyway, That being said, I would love it if the Devils were done and out of it… But they are not. Far from it. Look out NHL, Elias is not only back… He’s bringing Gomes and Mogilny back with him! I hope I’m wrong.

cmon Cecilturtle! should Devils fans LIKE the Rangers and openly admit it?

i’m not sure if Elias will be on the line with Gomez AND Mogilny. Currently, the line of Gomez-Parise-Gionta is fantastic (and the only one doing anything for the team).

I expect him to be 2nd line, with Mogilny, and either Brylin or Kozlov at center (Elias can play center if necessary).

What’s going to happen to cap salary for New Jersey, with Elias back in the line-up, it’ll bring their payroll well over the 39 million maximum. I definitely expect the Devils to start performing as they have been on a huge slump this season so far, but with Elias back, does that mean a trade will be happening soon?

  15. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

remember they cut out 3.6million from Malakhov retiring

  16. wingerxxx says:

The top lines should be Elias-Gomez-Giona, or Elias-Parise-Gionta and a combo of Brylin-Kozlov-Mogilny with Parise and Gomez being thrown around. Elias and Mogilny should definitely be split up to even things out.

  20. cementhead says:

With Malakov out – I still add up to $40.123M. This is still over the cap. Am I missing something? (my numbers are from TSN.ca)

Also – I thought I heard something about Malakov’s agent recinding his offer to retire – anyone know where this stands or how it effects things?

hahahhaha….. Family Guy reference number two. What the hell t.v. do you guys watch?

  25. gg_idiot says:

Only half of Elias’s salary counts towards the cap, since he was gone half the season. I think they might be good to go now.

  26. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

    I think so

  27. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

im sorry what was that? i cant hear you cause your so far down in the standings. hahahaha. sorry im having fun. and maybe you can talk when your team has 40 points ok?

  30. WelcomeBackHockey says:

Im a Devils fan and im not in the “I Hate The Rangers Fan Club” nor do I dont plan on ever signing up. I think its kinda lame going to a Devs/anyone game and hearing “Rangers suck” every 10 minutes. Almost as annoying as Bauman’s(sp?) “GIMME A D!” chant which you will never hear if the Devils are losing. The Devs/Rags rivalry is fun dont get me wrong but it just seems so juvenile now. That being said, Elias’s return should give the Devils the boost they need up front and it should give the Devils two solid lines. Will it be enough to secure a playoff spot? Possibly. That all remains to be seen. Elias doesnt play D which they’re hurting most. If your team scores 5 goals a game, you’re still going to lose if you give up 6. What I really want to see is whether or not the C is on his jersey. Lets hope 2006 is better than 2005

ps – Im loving the Family Guy references!

  34. habsoverserver says:

Anybody know why Ribiero is not playing for the Habs tonight?

  35. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

    He sucks anyways

  36. habsoverserver says:

Maybe he was kicked off the team for constantly calling the coach “Stewie”.

  37. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

    possibly

  38. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

    OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  39. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

    habs lost hahahahaha

  40. NjDEVSFN says:

what do you mean Elias doesnt play D? is he not a defesemen? yeah, he isnt. but he is very reliable on defense which is why he played on the PK last season. once he gets his game conditioning under him, he will be playing on the PK.

  41. JScottLeRoi says:

Was Mogilny a healthy scratch for this one?

  42. pensfanalltheway6687 says:

You know whats great, they did too!!!!

  43. WelcomeBackHockey says:

oh i agree with that. sorry for being kinda vague. i was just referring to the fact that they need help on defense. yeah they got a shutout last night but how many complete games have they played like that? last night was good to watch but i still get nervous in those games when the 2nd goal comes 17 seconds after the 1st.
