I wonder if the Canucks should take a chance on him. I do not like Semin at all personally, I kind of hope he does return to the KHL but he could be a useful weapon to Vancouver who desperately needs another option for their top line.

Burrows - Sedin - Sedin
Booth - Kesler - Raymond

just doesn't seem like a huge top 6 to me, Raymond and Booth right now are 2nd/3rd liners and Burrows is a good 2nd liner that can play on the first line if needed which means when one of more of them have one or more off games they just do not have the offensive production to win (as we saw in the VAN/LA series, losing Sedin destroyed this team).

I think Vancouver should take a risk and trade for Semin's rights.

To VAN:

Semin
conditional 2013 1st (if Semin doesn't re-sign with Vancouver)

To WSH:

26th overall pick
2013 4th round pick

The trade works great for Washington even if Semin doesn't re-sign since Washington's 2013 1st will likely be 22nd to 30th overall and getting another 1st in this draft can really work out great for the Caps in the long run (or even offered up to trade up in the draft).

Vancouver may be paying too much for Semin (even assuming they will re-sign him) but I feel they should be a little bold and try to pick him up. Maybe add a conditional 2013 2nd going Vancouver's way if Semin doesn't re-sign to even out the deal if needed.
