I don't think he'll be as good as Marty St.Louis either, but I hear what senators_choke is saying. Don't forget St.Louis and Marc Savard were both small scrappy guys who were put on waivers and were considered skilled but border line players in camp.

Even if Gamache doesn't reach their success, its not crazy to think a skilled guy like him (lead the Swiss league in scoring, not the best league but close to AHL calibre) could come in and play 3rd line, maybe get a bit of PP time and put up good offensive numbers and contribute.

I'd hold off before putting him in the same sentence as St. Louis. He's impressed and I like his game too, but let's not forget that it's still the pre-season. Let's not get carried away.

FYI, the Leafs were one of the top scoring 5 on 5 teams last year and they will be again this year. JFJ hasn't had a problem putting together a team that can score goals. The issue last year was keeping them out, be it goaltending or defense.

He played well again yesterday. Looks like a pretty decent player to me.

Worse case scenario: Another Suglobov

Best case scenario: The next Martin St. Louis? (don't laugh)

More than likely, he'll be somewhere in between, but closer to whom: Suglobov or St. Louis?

You're right they trade Sergei at the right time, because after that, his value plummeted. It was a good deal to get Renberg.

The knock on Sergei when he played in T.O. is that he never passed. But I liked his ability to fill the net and his speed. He actually had the ability to create offense, a quality that not many players have.

I likied Sergei too. He was good for the leafs, but they also traded him at the right time. He was never really the same with Phoenix, Montreal, Chicago, or Washington, and we got Renberg back for him too. Its weird that he never got into a good groove anywhere after leaving Toronto.

What can you expect from a fan base that once turned Nikolai Borchevsky into a household name? The last Leaves game I went to I saw one guy wearing a Borchevsky jersey and another wearing a Mike Craig jersey.

dont forget this is a much different league than it was 6 years ago. by no means will he be a steal, i dont ever see him scoring 20 goals, but in my mind he has expanded past the "top minor leaguer" status.

Wow. Just... wow.

Gamache was with three NHL teams if I'm correct, and I know that two of those were desperately in need of some help on the scoring lines, and even then he didn't make the cut.

Maybe his time in Europe has changed him; don't know, hasn't been on the radar for a while. But unless he is a drastically different player than he was two years ago, he is minor league material and no more.

To give him any hype, any hope of being a steal: I'm sorry, but you are delusional and you should be ridiculed as a fan of hockey for believing this to be possible.

I'm just in awe by how far some of you can miss the mark.
And they say southern hockey fans know little or nothing about the game...sheeesh.
