considering you can trade conditional picks with players’ rights then there is no reason a team wouldn’t risk making a deal.

rights to semin

for:

2013 4th round pick
*conditional 2013 2nd round pick
**conditional 2014 2nd round pick

*under condition he signs and plays at least 50 games

**under condition he plays 100 games for club in the next 2 seasons

you basically lose nothing if he goes to UFA and only lose a couple of 2nds if he signs and doesn’t flee to KHL at any point.

That’s just a ton of skill, and with the big Swede on the wing, powering his way to the front of the net, it would be one of the top lines in hockey. Then they’d still have Zetterberg anchoring the 2nd line with Filpulla.
