Come on habsrock, I'm a canadien's fan and saying Andropov has no offensive upside is just ridiculous. The guy had 18 goals in 50 games. He's no Crosby, but he's no Murray either.

Take it f**kin easy on this guy k guys Montreal will probably make it and same with Toronto but i think that Toronto might do better than Montreal because just the Habs are horrible even strength and two guys arent going to make them 50 goals better. Escpeiccaly when Smolinski isnt going to get 30 goals and hamrlik if you guys are lucky will get 35 points.

Hey guy before you go blabbing on Hamrlik is not as good as sheldon Souray. Two Smolinski is going to get injured because he is older and he will probably play with guys who arent that good like plekanec or Kovalev and smolinski will get less then 20 goals and less than 50 points.
Yeh because winning the stanley cup with a goaltender who never got past the first round or a captain who cant get 20 goals a season really realistic because who beat Montreal on the last game??? Oh yeah Toronto!

there were weak ones, the D was average, not 28th in the leafue. he let in at least 10 right off the faceoff.

Chris Simon a mentor? Chris Simon is a lousy tough guy who takes stupid penalties and gets suspended every year. Habs don't need him. Gelinas is too old and Wes Walz is too defensive minded. Smolinski is the mentor and that's why the Habs brought him on board, not to replace Bonk but to mentor those around him.

    People have to be a little more realistic. Habs have not gotten worse yet they have not gotten better either. They just filled one hole and created another. Souray's powerplay shot will be missed, so the team will be weaker on the powerplay. They did however improve their defense with Hamrlik who is a lot more solid than Souray, especially at 5 on 5. Smolinski is just a more offensive minded version of Bonk. No real improvement there but not any worse either.

   If the Habs hope to make a push for the playoffs they need 1-2 more key guys. If its only one, they will need a defenseman, no doubt. A Sopel or a Stuart or even Danny Markov will solidify this defense even more. Another forward couldn't hurt either. If a solid offensive forward like Shanahan or Selanne is out of the price range, it would be smarter to trust the youth with the offensive load. Kostitsyn and Grabovski should be given full time roles and another mentor should be hired, a guy like Martin Gelinas, Wes Walz or how about Chris Simon? Any of these guys on board would be great for the youth to expand and develop their game at the elite level.

   If Gainey doesn't tweak the roster a bit more, its not looking good for the playoffs next year.

Antropov would never make the Habs 2nd line. As much as i hate Kovalev, Antropov would never beat him or Plekanec or Higgins or Latendresse or Ryder or Koivu out. If the Habs had him on the 3rd line, i wouldn't really mind cuz he'd take over for Begin or Lapierre, 2 useless players in my opinion.
