Both Perezhogin and Higgins accepted their qualifying offers, meaning that they got actually about a 5-10% raise.

But they are making less money, you say. Ahh, but they were both rookies and had signing bonuses for their entry contracts upon making the NHL. They signed one-year deals so that they have something to prove, and I'm pretty sure they'll be in line for a raise next season.

Making slightly less to stay with the team (even if it’s about 90k less) shows how Perezhogin is willing to play in Montreal. I hope he gets a great season on the established 3rd line (Perezhogin – Plekanek – Johnson) and get a better pay next year. He’s a good kid.
