Habs looking to move a Defenseman

According to RDS, Bob Gainey is looking to trade a defenseman to get an other offensive defenseman.

The problems that occur with the Habs is that the powerplay is struggling since Sheldon Souray is unable to become the player he was. Against the Flyers, the Habs score only one time on ten chances… not really a good score.

The suggest the possibility of trading Rivet, Souray or Dagenais. Targets of the Habs, rumored, are Dick Tarnstrom of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Derek Morris of the Phoenix Coyotes, Marek Zidlicky of the Nashville Predators, Janne Niinimaa of the New York Islanders and Ruslan Salei of the Anaheim Migthy Ducks.

If he’s so replacable, why did they get him back? The only reason they lost him in the first place was because they couldn’t protect him from the waiver draft after training camp.

“Plus you can’t judge a player based on 9 games.”? Isn’t that what you’re doing?

    My apologies.

I confess I did not read past the first like where you mentioned Zidlicky… I did note AFTER I ran off at the mouth that you also mentioned Nashville being not interested in a trade…

The problem is, I am SOOOO sick of people constantly on Leaf fans for stupid rumors when I have really not heard any in about 2 years that were all that bad.

In fact, I hear just as many dumb rumors from other fans. They just don’t get skewered over it like the Leaf fans do.

Apology accepted, I understand what you mean. Of course you would hear dumb rumors or trade suggestions (as I like to call them, a rumor needs to be media based, not something someone comes up with off the top of their head or because they were able to make the trade in NHL 2K6 or 06) from other fans. Leaf fans take the beating cause they have the history of putting them on the internet. They are not completely to blame though, as I have stated many times the Toronto media is nothing but Maple Leafs propaganda.

I see what you’re saying and I agree to it, but no one’s going to take Hainsey except for someone with dead weight on their hands, and the Rangers have the most apparent dead weight in Poti.

It’s moreso wishful thinking on my part, I’ll be honest with you.

  5. GretzNYR99 says:

    Wow, you’re a dreamer man.

    – Morris is practically untouchable, the only way he’d be moved is if a guy like Pronger or Lidstrom or another defender of that caliber was being moved for him. I’m not saying he’s that good, but his value to Phoenix as their top defender is what Barnett will want in return, either that or a guy like Bouwmeester or a package of top defensive prospects, persay a Marc Staal, Cam Barker, Anton Babchuk, etc…

    – Gretzky will not get fired, he’ll step down as coach… he’s a part owner, he’s not going to fire himself and make a fool himself. The man has brains.

    – Poti for Hainsey was wishful thinking on my part, and I knew it. The point I’m trying to get across is that it’ll be for dead weight.

Souray’s play most PPon the 1st PP unit, look at their PP time, 55minutes for Souray and 40 for Boullion. Bouillon is by far an overall better D than Souray. Sheldon has a BIG shoot, but can’t put it on the net ! Just ask Spezza who he prefers on MTL D !

  7. Muller11 says:

Boullion gets pushed around, gives away the puck, and takes stupid penalties. If you watched the Ottawa game you are referring to, you would have notice Boullion was in the penalty box for pulling someone down in front of the net. He also gave away the puck in his own end because he is to small. They need a real defensemen in his place.

  8. Muller11 says:

Habs beat Rangers 4-1. Boullion plays least amount of time out of all the D. I think we really need to replace the midget.
