These rumors are ridiculos it makes no senses for the habs to make a trade at this time. A trade like this by the habs could ruin there season. They are having a great season so why risk it it makes no senses

I totally agree that Lepointe is over-paid. I'm just saying he is not totally useless. He can put up 20 goals, which isn't enough at his price, but he does lead by example, which helps the youngsters.

I was responding to the poster who stated Samsonov would be good enough to get Seabrook straight up. No way. Like another poster stated, Samsonov can't produce with Kovalev, how is he suppose to produce with a lesser talent. Seabrook is a young defender who will play 10+ years in the league barring injury, as a top 3 d-man for the Hawks.

All in all... Seabrook would be a nice addition to the already stacked blueline that Montreal has set for the future.

Lapointe may be a good leader who works his behind off, but lets see what price tags other players of his ilk have...

Ian Laperriere (Col) 1.064 million
Scott Melanby (Atl) 1 million
Kirk Maltby (Det) 1.368 million

Point is you can't pay 2.4 million for a guy to provide leadership and work hard... you pay 2.4 million to guy with skill who can post up good numbers to work hard and be a leader.

Of course nobody would trade Seabrook for Samsonov straight up normally, but given the context surrounding both teams, the fact that the injury riddled Hawks who have only scored 13 goals in 9 games are desperate for a gamebreaker and that Montreal does not need to trade Samsonov, the situation is everything but normal. Everyone knows that Chicago is desperate, therefore they are going to ask for more then they would normally receive, simple offer-demand theory.

I agree, Samsonov is not what Boston needs right now. I could see them trying to go after Seabrook, but even then, why? We have a good young defense right now. That is not what the B's need. They need a goaltender if Hannu doesn't get straight real quick!

The only guys on the team that I would trade are Mara, Primeau, Donovan, Finley or Suave.

Brad Stuart should be untouchable. He is playing better hurt then most defensemen we have seen in Boston in years.

I say this.....

Bos: Dunham, Witt, and a pick
NYI: Mara, Finley (and/or) Suave, and a pick.

The salaries would even out and the Isles would get some youth on the blueline, while Boston get a goalie to platoon with Thomas and adds Witt to take Mara's place.
