Heatley Re-signs with the Sens
According to sportsnet.ca, Heatley has signed a 6 year 45 million dollar deal with the senators. This equates to 7.5 million dollars per year. Murray was pushing 7, Heatley was wanting 8, they compromised right down the middle. I just hope the money doesn’t go to his head and turns into a lazy A$$ like many others do when they hit the big bucks.
Good Job Mr. Murray for getting this one done!

Good, all you guys need to do now is get Dean McAmmond back. And I hope Steve Downie gets called up from The Flyers for an Ottawa-Philly game so Downie can cripple McAmmond once and for all. I hope Ben Eager ends Heatley's career. And Emery gets his ass kicked by Sami Kapanen hahahhahahaha. Cote is going to ***** up McGrattan. Im bored, lets get stoned
Fantastic signing. Spezza's next boys!
Great deal. $7.5 million is established market value based on the Thornton and Iginla deals. This is exactly the amount I would have offered, and the term is awesome.
Actually, Downie's going to play in the AHL against the Bingo Sens and Yablonski is going to beat the snot out of him.
GO YABO!
As of tonight Heater is on pace for a 246 point season….so far, so good for the Sens.
lol, anything less is a disappointment.
And Nik Antropov is on pace for 164 goals, which would easily break Gretzky's record. Just thought I should throw that in.
The question now is, will they be able to re-sign Spezza, i.e., if or when another team throws a huge offer at him as a RFA (like with Thomas Vanek and Justin Penner)?
The Sens better hope it works out. If they lose Spezza, they'll look like idiots.
Well damn…the record books are going to take a hit this year.. loll
They absolutely have the cap space to re-sign Spezza — Redden's contract comes off of the books this season, so that will cover the raises owed to Heatley and Spezza.
Spezza is a great player and kudos to the Sens if they lock him up also. If not they won't be idiots, they just locked up their Marquee player. The truth is that Heater wins games, he scores the goals and without Spezza he will still be an Elite player in the League. I don't know if I could guarantee the same for Spezza. He has amazing hands and chemistry with Heatley but, if he goes for the dollars, he may not get the guarantee to play with a 2 time 50 goal scorer and could potentially ruin his status. The smart move would be to make millions of dollars with the Sens and have a great career with a quality player rather than get that extra mill or so and gamble with his status.
I like the Heatley signing I think we will see Jason Spezza signed soon and it makes it eaiser to Jason Spezza.
Seven years? Sigh, I'd like to see the Leafs moved back to what used to be the Norris division.
