Is Marty Biron on the trade block? is reporting that the strong play of goalie Antero Niittymaki is making it so Marty Biron is expendable, especially considering he is a pending UFA at the conclusion of this season.

It is noted that Niittymaki’s play is on fire of late and he has gone 10-2-2 in his last 14 games. On the flip side it is also noted that Biron’s strong play last post season allowed the Flyers to advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

Nothing wrong with keeping both. A Stanley Cup contender can use insurance in goal in case of injuries. Plus Biron is not going to fetch a monster player that would put you over the top, so may as well keep him.

i agree not to mention philly has the grit and grind to make it in a seven game series…neither nitty or biron could play a strait 7 games in 2 weeks. especially with all the bumps in the playoffs. keep them both.

Unless a juicy trade offer is proposed where the flyers would upgrade in goaltending, keep Biron for the playoffs and don't resign. When the summer rolls around, Flyer should pursue Backstrom, Thomas (doubtful) or make a trade for Vokoun from Florida. If nothing presnets itself, they have too keep Biron, but hopefully at a discount (pending his playoff performance). Nitty definitely should be resigned…he's been one of the top backups for the past 2 years,

I've always been a fan of Martin Biron, and would like to see him come play for the Oilers. With Rollie heading out of E-town this summer (hopefully), and Jeff Drouin-Delauriers as our backup for the forseeable future, having Martin Biron take over the starters job would be ideal for the Oilers……….but first, fire Craig MacTavish………please.
