It's almost time to pick,Price or Halak?

As you all know Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak will become RFAs at the end of the season and I doubt either one of them want to be the other one’s back-up for much longer so the question is who will the Habs pick?

For the last 3 years all the hype has been on Price but as of late Halak shows that he can do the job and seems to be confident and more mature than the previous years. On the other Hand Price has been Great at time and weak at others, it’s clear that Price biggest problem is being consistent but still has great potential and much younger then most NHL starters.

So what should the Habs do? Try to sign both? Or trade one of them by the deadline and which one of the two should they trade? Price would be worth much more than Halak in a trade but it would be a huge gamble to trade Price at such an earlier stage in his career. Regardless of what happens I think the Habs will have to pick one and find an experience back-up goalie to help whoever becomes the number 1 guy.

Who would you guys keep?

I'd be happy with either one.  I think they will stick with Price however.  All I ask is that when they trade one, that it be to a team in the West as not to have to play them often.

for as good as halak is playing you still have to stick and go with carey price, his upside is greater……halak will bring us a very good return in a trade!

nice job on the article THENOTORIOUS AS USUAL!

Hey! Lafleur do you think SK will get traded or callup soon? Chipchura has been playing pretty well as of late so it will be hard to call up SK?

THENOTORIOUS I THINK SK WILL BE RECALLED VERY SHORTY AND WILL PLAY ON THE 2ND LINE WITH BROTHER ANDREI AND PLEKANEC AND WILL START TO SCORE  TO INCREASE HIS TRADE VALUE,THEN I THINK YOU WIL SEE HIM TRADED CHIPCHURRA IS PLAYING REALLY WELL NOW SO IT'S TOUGH TO TAKE HIM OUT OF THE LINE-UP AT THIS POINT!

This issue of course is a little early but it really all depends on the market.  When the market is low…guys like Bryzgalov go on the waiver wire for free.  And when the market is high guys like Toskala (draft picks), Huet (2nd rounder), Roloson (prospect/pick) go for market value and sometimes more.

Montreal however seems to be poised for a playoff spot and IMO it would be foolish to rely solely on only one goalie.  Price has been kinda streaky in the past playoffs so it would be nice for yall to have Halak in as well and play the hot hand.

In retrospect u guys traded Huet once before a playoff run and got lucky with a great Price so who knows what Gainey decides to do.
