Remember, we are talking about the agent who was accused of offering Malkin $50k last year to stay on as his representation. That is a very serious no-no. The PA has never yanked away an agent’s certification, but they will pretty quickly if there’s proof he did this. With the way Grossman has handled some other clients, I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if it’s true.

I think this is the reason why Waddell hasn’t “blinked”, if you can call offering around a $6M/year average blinking. He knows Grossman is a money grubbing agent-whore, and hopefully he can show Kovalchuk (sans agent) that this is more than a fair offer. Though I would imagine that Grossman will do whatever he can to be there if the team wants to meet with Kovalchuk.

With his girlfriend and new baby States-side, and the fact that he has been planning for a while not to play in Russia after October 4 makes you think he really does want to be over here. Just a matter of telling Grossman to shut his pie-hole for a minute, then sign on the dotted.
