Well now it's all clear.Laraque cost us Daniel Carcillo and a 3rd round pick, so in essence we traded George Laraque for Carcillo and Dominic Moore… maybe NOT the best trade.

Bob McKenzie correctly points out there is no more 8th round in the NHL Draft and therefore the Penguins pick going to the Coyotes cannot be an 8th round pick.

It's gotta feel QUITE good to have back to back players waive their no-trade clauses in order to come play for a REAL TEAM.

I wonder how this makes LeafymcIdiot feel? Gotta feel nice to have a respected player who said, repetitively mind you, that he would ONLY waiv his NTC to play in Ottawa and Toronto, but then as soon as he hears he could play on the new and only dynasty of the millenium, he quickly reneges on his previous statements and joins the bandwagon. Good for him! Even better for Laraque who will be around next year too.

If current roster players have to go I'm hoping it's Armstrong, Melichar, or maybe Malone. Then again I suppose I'm also hoping for more than pucks in return. At any rate, Boynton really impressed me his rookie year and if he cna rise to that level again he would be exactly what the Pens need.

Carcillo is a mini-Laraque. That kid is only 5-11, but will put anyone 6-2 or below in the hospital. He plays with fire. But overall, not a bad trade at all, I think the Penguins did a great trade here. The only issue is, where are these players going to be playing in the current lineup? Which means to me that some of the current roster players will be traded, and last I heard, the Pens were really involved in talks for Nick Boynton, as of 11:30 am EST

Well 15th with the trade of Welch. No worries here, plus I fully expect the Pens to be busy in free agency the next few years. This is a damn fine trade if it happens methinks.

If true, that's a pretty damn good trade.
Laraque would be an excellent 3rd or 4th line player. Although he doesn't drop the gloves often enough, his mere presence and the fact that he has OBVIOUSLY been brought in to support Sid, Geno and Staal, means he will HAVE to do so more often, or at the bare minimum stick up for these guys. And along with that , he can score a few goals too. Our 3rd and 4th lines are looking pretty damned fine, if only we could get that top line goal scoring winger and a defensive defenseman we'd be a real Cup contender.

8th round pick, haha, whatever. and Danny Carcillo is so far down the depth chart and won't be playing for a few years (he's only 22) that it's a prospect worth shipping.

I like this trade if it goes down.
