I think Hickey almost has bust status, and it's not worth acquiring him if we already have gardiner and percy. Although he would be a good investment if he can get a lot better playing with the leafs and marlies, and if he does not become better then gardener or percy than we can trade him for more then what we gave up for him.

I don't think the run and gun style is Ronnie's preferred style. As a coach you gotta look at what you have and think what the best style is for your team and with the fast smaller team we have you can't really play a defensive bored control game you gotta beat teams with the skill and speed game but u can't deny we'd be better with a better goalie because gus and Reimer haven't been cutting it so far although I though he played good against sj

You know it is funny. I started to look at teams who seem to always have amazing goaltending like Phoenix and it does not matter who is in net they seem to make the guy look like a god. I mean Bryz looked like a top 5 goalie in Phoenix. In Philly he just not playing well at all. Mike Smith last year on Tampa looked god awful suddenly on Phoenix the guy looks like he could challenge for a Vezina this or next year. My point is the system makes an average goalie great and it makes me wonder if Ronnies run and gun system could be at fault.

deals i wouldnt mind seeing get done that make sense:

To tor: dustin brown, jonathon bernier, dustin penner

To La: kadri, franson, reimer, armstrong, d'amigo, 2nd

To SJ: Macarthur, lombardi, aulie

To Tor: joe pavelski

To isles: bozak

To Tor: nabokov, 3rd/4th

To chi: grabovski, gustavson

To Tor: andrew shaw, 1st

Lineup:

lupul- pavelski - kessel

brown - connolly - kulimen

penner- shaw- frattin/armstrong

brown- steckel - armstrong/crabb

phaneuf - liles

schenn - gardiner (thought this pairing looked great ln, future top pairing)

gunnarson- komisarek

blacker

nabokov

bernier

what do you think, provides good goaltending for now and the future, doesnt destroy our youth but does provide a huge makeover for our team but fills the wholes. Works out cap wise i believe and penner will be coming off the books next year and brown and penner will provide big tough bodys also. If we had to trade grabovski i think a perfect suiter would be chicago, need a good second line centre and will solidify there team for a cup run in my opinion with a good backup in gustavson incase crawford goes down. i would really try to get bernier and brown outta la with our surplus of defenceman. they need to fill the void of johnson leaving.

Don't know if brown is available anymore but if we're going after him, i'd want to grab hickey too. I think he could be a reclamation project. Hasn't done anything yet, but i think he could do well with a change of scenery.

unless they have a deal to take on salary (Nash) there is not really any point to putting Wolski on waivers, but for a free rental I wouldn't mind the Leafs making a claim.
