Lightning to Bring Back Hamrlik

The Tampa Tribune reports trade talks between the Lightning and New York Islanders for Roman Hamrlik have reached an impasse.

It’s believed that Lightning were offering forwards Fredrik Modin, Sheldon Keefe and a draft pick for Hamrlik while Islanders general manager Mike Milbury has reportedly asked for Alex Svitov and/or Nikita Alexeev.

A separate report in the St. Petersburg Times suggests the Lightning have made preliminary contact with Greg de Vries.

de Vries is said to be looking for a four year deal worth $3.5-million a season. He earned just over $1.3-million with Colorado last year.

That would be a great blue line situation…

    Hamrlik – De Vries

    – The two fit good on Tampa –

  2. Tradedude says:

ya good job, but tbay will never give up the big alexeec or the youngster svitov. leafs, hire whoever tbay gm is lol. cuz quinn cant even afford to re-sign wesley.

  3. bruinexpert says:

this doesn’t make any sense…i thought De Vries was coming to Toronto…St. Petersburg Times is a fraud, never trust the Russians!!!!!

    Impasse:

    1. A road or passage having no exit.

    2. A situation that is so difficult that no progress can be made; a deadlock or a stalemate: reached an impasse in the negotiations.

So, what you are saying, unlike the article title, is that Hamrlik is NOT coming to Tampa Bay?

De Vries is definitely a possibility, although I would wonder if he wouldn’t rather try to sign with a cup contender? Maybe he might reconsider Colorado with the recent Kariya/Selanne signings.

Why would the Islanders trade Hamrlik to Tampa Bay?

They finally get their defence in order with

    Hamrlik Aucoin

    Johnsson Niiminaa

    Cairns Martinek

So they trade him away, then they are looking for another top 4 defenceman.

Stupid if you ask me. Mad Mike is starting to annoy me.

Don’t blame the Russians, blame the damn Leaf fans. Everybody under the sun “wants to sign with Toronto” according to Toronto sports media and Toronto hockey fans.

It’s hardly ever the case, and I believe de Vries is yet another example. They blame Quinn, but the fact of the matter is that people never want to play in Toronto as bad as the fans & media hype it up, so they get their little blue & white hearts broken when they sign with another team.

I hope the signings of Kariya and Selanne will encourage de Vries to come back to Denver. I am sure Lacroix would be willing to pay de Vries what he is asking, just the term may be the problem. Hopefully de Vries realizes how good the chances will be of the Avs winning now they have an amazing set of forwards.

Whoever Posted This From TSN.ca Should’ve Read The Title. lol It Said That The Talks Had Stopped For Now, And That If They Can’t Restructure Them, They’d Go For De Vries.

  9. DaMick says:

funny as everyone notices that this poster kinda forgot to read what he posted.

“The Tampa Tribune reports trade talks between the Lightning and New York Islanders for Roman Hamrlik have reached an impasse.”

that sounds like the deal is dead in any English.

Do try reading before you post.

Even though I think Hamrlik is slightly over rated, he still is an all-star defenseman and I don’t see Milbury trading him for average talent. If he is going to thin out his defense which is really only 4 strong with Hamrlik, he will need a top player back. If TB isn’t willing to give up that type of talent, then this deal won’t go through.

The other thing is even though I have heard Hamrlik’s name mentioned in rumors, not one NY paper has mentioned this one which makes me a little skeptical considering Hamrlik didn’t enjoy playing in TB the first time.

haha i love when people try to make fun of someone and then someone else makes them look stupid…gotta love forums.

Well the Islanders have little to no money to spend right now! They’re not going to go out and spend any money on anybody, infact their owner Charles Wang keeps losing money because of the SMG group. SMG runs Nassau Coliseum for anybody who doesn’t know and takes in all of the food and ticket revenue. Going out and getting Niinamma at the end of last season was their way of saying we’re in this money spending game when they really weren’t. Everybody blames Milbury and says he’s wrong with everything he does. The guy has a boss, he’s not the boss! If Hamrlik goes it’s because Wang said that he can’t afford him right now, not to mention Hamrlik and Jason Blake are the 2 most disliked guys on the squad. They’ve also been trying to shop around Jason Blake as part of their “finding out what went wrong lastyear plan.” Laviolette treated his players like shit, Jason Blake is the most arrogant son of a bitch on that team and Roman Hamrlik is right on his ass. Hamrlik could get dealt for money or for the fact that he’s not the most liked guy on the team. Either way if the Islanders got back Nikitta Alexeev in that deal i’ll be happy because he’s going to be nipping on the footsteps of his current team out Martin St. Louis. Criticize if you want but that’s the talent that kid has. So if Tampa will give up Alexeev in that deal, let’s do it up!
