I think Nonis is safe from that pressure for this year and next, but if no signs of improvement are shown he is out the door. So far though I like what he has done!!!

This is a two fold answer...lol.....are we trading for him right now or part way through the seaason? Different scenerios have different answers for me....but I actually lean towards no. Yes, I said no. i would try to figure other thing first. I think Benn leaves me to question whether or not he is truly a centre? Or are we aquiring another nice winger? I would see him working better with Reemer for some reason.

I love this article. God bless Dave Nonis.

Now he has to stick to his words and not let the weight of Maple Leaf fan/Media pressure make him sway from his blueprint.

Gardiner for Benn in a heartbeat. We have lots of good young defence, with loads of potential. Granted, none of Rielly, Finn, Blacker, or Percy have any NHL experience and are all far from being sure things when compared to Gardiner, but I'll take my chances moving forward with our defensive prospects if it means bringing in a rugged centre who can put up big numbers.

Gardiner (and possibly another piece) for Benn would be like the Luke Schenn for JVR trade on a higher scale. I'm in.

Despite my better judgement Eklund gets me every time saying the Leafs are targeting Jamie Benn. I was thinking the whole time that if the Leafs are going to package Kadri, Bozak and a 2nd for Luongo they'd be better off to throw in another spare part and offer that package for a legitimate young star instead.

Kadri, Bozak and a 2nd is borderline a Rick Nash type package.

I kinda wanted Luongo just to see the Leafs have a good year, if not for goaltending falling apart we would have been a playoff team last season IMO.

What I'm relieved to see is that it looks like Nonis has autonomy and Burke's firing wasn't about turning his management team into a puppet regime for the board. I can see Nonis embracing tank nation if the wheels fall off this season.
