I agree and I even believe he is the highest priority for Montreal’s defence.

Montreal needs a N.1 Center to play with kovey and samsonov (even if I have doubts about samsonov (wait and see i guess)),and another offensive/solid D ... that D can be traded for souray + ?. And that center can be traded for a N.1 Draft + Aibesher + ? ( ribs?, bonk?)

And if Samsonov dosen't cut it, we will need a wing to...

If we look at the situation in Montreal the only players we can afford to trade as I said above are Ribeiro, Aibesher (because we have Yan danis and C. Price (Canadien Junior gold??)), Bonk, Sourray, draft pick.

We have real good juniors coming up: Kostytin, latendresse (if healty), price, chipchura.. Komisarek, perezogin and higgins showed some great improvement in the last leg of the season...that's why i say we can afford a draft pick.

If we can grab a Center, and maybe a wing that could give the Canadiens an extra boost , we are in the run... I think we will see a new face from the juniors that will make and difference this year...

I just love your line-up but it seems more NHL2006-like trades than anything…Marleau is worth way more than that and Hale isn’t the one cashing the big $$$ in NJ, so Lou’s gonna keep him.

despite what many might think here in Mtl, MARKOV is going nowhere! Bob holds him pretty high on our player evaluation, and definitely higher then SOURAY. So unlike what seems to be popular opinion here...I am confident Markov is going nowhere, and Souray is almost surely gone. To be followed (in my opinion) by RIVET. Combined Souray and Rivet earn near 5mil, and in the new NHL I think we can do better.

In order to get Marleau, SJ will likely want a decent 2nd line center in return. While I don't think Ribeiro or Bonk fit that mold, I would bet that one of them would need to be included in the deal.

Although I don't think it would happen...the trade would look more like Ribeiro/Bonk, Souray, 2nd rd pick in 07---->Marleau (it also matches total salaries for both sides since Marleau is at 4mil)

to completely clean up the situation...

send Rivet and ribeiro/bonk --->Phillipe Boucher.

Then help Lou out in NJ and send him a couple of draft picks for HALE.

I would love that trade... but I think that Datsyunk is worth more than that. If he is a UFR next year then the Red Wings may want to trade him, but are they really that tight with cap space? I just don't see why the red wings would want this trade.
